We've addressed some big issues in our squad this window and bought back Bale.
Glad to see some of you will still have a meltdown over absolutely fuck all. Yes we need a striker, we all know that. But we also know the club's working on it and the last few days of this window are gonna be mental with the amount of top club's who still have business to do. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Patience remains key. There will either be a former number 1 striker who has satisfied himself there are no desirable spots where he will not be a back-up and decides Spurs makes sense, or a current sub (2nd striker) who believes Spurs makes better sense than where he is at.

If Harry is healthy, Harry is playing the bulk of the minutes. We do not have CL, so there's that too. The pool of potential targets is, I believe, far more limited than we are contemplating. Josh King (mooted a bunch) is not a Harry replacement, in any way shape or form. Deeney, also mooted, would be more so. But I suspect as Milik is in consideration (as is Weghorst) but I am not convinced he wants us unless that is the only option he has. Young strikers (Edouard, Daka, Vinicius et al) are not going to enhance their careers by sitting on the Spurs bench.

Llorente was a deadline deal. There will be options close to the deadline. If not, Deeney (or others in the Championship) will be there and that can be done later. Not ideal. Deadline is not far off. Patience. Mourinho wants a striker. A striker will come in.

the inevitable injury after we noticed the ridiculous schedule this week if not last just emphasises how negligent not signing another striker is.

Waving the white flag language ahead of our first match in a competition which is one of only three we have an outside chance of winning ain’t good enough for a club with our stated ambitions.

King or Deeney on deadline day it is, but it’s already much later than it should have been to manage the risk!

Not a discussion for this thread, cliff, but no matter what signings we had made, playing three games in four and a half days was always going to mean sacrificing one of those games. The only chance we would have had was if we had been given a favourable Carabao Cup draw. Sadly, that wasn't to be.

ITK still seems to be confident that we will sign a striker before the window closes. Hopefully their confidence is justified.

Maybe Bale will be used as a striker ??‍♂️
like Ronaldi switched to play more central and allowed him to continue playing through his 30’s - very similar players after all.

That's slightly worrying, but it was likely to go down to the wire

I don't see the issue. As long as we don't have to play the whole season without back up a week or so doesn't matter. I suspect we feel comfortable that we have alot of options and will probably get a better deal by leaving it late so better to focus on the more specific targets first. Makes sense.

There is a good chance it will matter when Dele is playing upfront tonight and we get knocked out of the cup.
It’s too late now but the striker situation should have been sorted at the start of the window especially with the early fixture pileup

valenciayid this morning:
Anyway we are very close on Skriniar being done...
And yes a backup striker is still on the cards but first things first
Cheers dov! Good bit of info. To me it doesn’t overly make a difference when we get the striker or Skriniar so long as it’s before next Monday, as it’s unlikely they’ll be playing until after the break anyway. We’re not giving anyone a debut v Man Utd.

For those of us who just sort of fleet backwards and forwards, and don't really know the history of the ITK's, ValenciaYid is one of the really original ones right? Can't remember hearing much from him in recent seasons but he seems incredibly confident on a CB which is good. Is there any reason his info doesn't go in the RO?

All I know is, he was the earliest ITK on Poch leaving and was very confident and I frankly didn’t want to hear it and dismissed it but he was bang on.
