Believe it when I see it. The only time we ever saw it was the season of 2 points from 8 games. I'm guessing £25m for Jack Grealish is the money we'll see. That's unless we see a high number of departures: Sissoko, Janssen, Dembele, Rose, Toby.

Our record outlay, without add-ons, is £28m. It's a fan boy spunk fest to think that's going to be doubled, at a time when we have just completed a new stadium that went massively over-budget.

I hope we don't get the usual excuses at the end of July, but history usually repeats.
That's net outlay, Sean. What about 2013? We bought Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Chiriches, Eriksen and Lamela in the same window. Those transfers cost a total of £109 million...?

From the £85m for Bale it was generally seen as a bit over like for like.

In the words of Garth, we sold Elvis and got the Beatles, not realising it was the Bootleg Beatles. We did get a Lennon.

Paulinho £15m
Chadli £7m
Soldado £26m
Capoue £9m
Chiriches £7m
Eriksen £11m
Lamela £25m

Total £100m

It's not information, it's rumours. Someone heard something from someone and passed it on. Information is me telling you what I had for breakfast.

In the ITK thread, criticizing ITK.

What could possibly go wrong?

Actually criticising the reaction to ITK, as if it's guaranteed information passed on by actual employees of the club(which can be the case).

By its very nature - rumour, gossip - it can only be speculation that may be true at one time or false at all times.

The one truly verified ITK - that is someone who did know players who were definitely coming to the club - was Archibald on Spurs Odyssey. The reason he knew when players were coming to the club was that he did contractually work for the club.

As I said, our net spend wasn't all that much, but the point is that we have spent in the past and I think we will this summer too, if we can secure our targets.

Sure, but I'm emphasising that, unlike United, we can't just splash out £60m without a requisite income from a sale or sales. United yet again spent £50m on Fred, without any sales. We won't do that. We did do it, the equivalent. The last time was back in the 80s.

So how do you know that none of the ITK on here comes from people who contractually work for the club :bored:

Under normal circumstances, yes, you're right - we're not in the same financial league as Man U... yet.

But, and it's a heavily caveated 'but', this summer, I think, is different. As things stand, we're on the cusp - do we take a risk or do we continue to play safe?

Although we know full well that Daniel Levy is very much business-attuned and will always be coldly calculating when it comes to risk, this summer with the new stadium coming, with Pochettino and our key players being eyed up by the richer clubs around Europe, I genuinely believe that Levy will choose to roll the dice and open up the purse strings regardless of whether we choose to offload anyone or not.

I don't but seeing what happened to Archibald - someone who thought they were being very clever outed him, thus risking his job - I imagine that anyone in a similar position would think very carefully before risking their job.

You only need one person to do that before you've lost your livelihood, purely for unselfishly passing on guaranteed information. There is no rating system on SO, so it wasn't being done to boost an ego.

Like the lottery, the ITK thread is best regarded as a bit of fun. Unlike the lottery, you don't end up out of pocket and with a mess of silver slivers over your hands.

I'm confused - you seem to be aware that bouncing around claiming to work for the club, whilst revealing inside information, can put your cock on chopping block, but you seem to not understand how some information could come from people who work at the club, without you having "proof" of it??

Also, consider the concept that the club may want to use this method to purposely leak information (for various reasons)

You haven't understood my reply.

Your last sentence is the usual conspiracy bollox.

Archibald's information was shown to be information many times. I've posted on here regarding the one time when Corluka's transfer to us was halted by Hughes. Archibald was definitive on this, when Hughes stated it would never happen. I joshingly slagged him off, stating that if it didn't happen he should allow me to sleep with his wife. It happened(not sleeping with his wife).

Football clubs don't monitor fan sites, nor do they remotely aspire to leak information. If they did the former, explain the car crash affair at West Ham's Olympic Stadium. AFAIK, agents do the latter, for obvious financial gain.
