Benteke?? Only way I'm happy with that is if Janssen is definitely going and the two done are Aurier and a WF. If we are blowing our budget on Benteke and neglecting a WF I would be pretty miffed.

The problem is, he won't be cheap. We have a finite transfer budget and do we really want to spend big money for a type of striker we don't really need ?

We desperately need pace up front that's where we should be targeting our limited transfer budget imo. :)

disagree about us desperately needing pace up front.

If you move the ball as pedestrian as we have for large parts of the last two games, then all the pace in the world up top is'nt going to make the slightest difference.

imho, Barkley is the one we are crying out for, another creative brain in midfield.

Surprised so many are against Benteke, depending on price id say hed be a decent backup to Harry. Then again, anyone short of Griezemen would probably upset some.

The real issue surely is that he won't be cheap either in fee or wages.

Lol! My day just got worser! Straight swap for Wimmer? At least I got out of Wembley quite quickly.

But we're crying out for pacy options in other areas (Right back and wing forward) and already have VJ and Son. This is so needless.

I sometimes cannot help but think we approach our transfers like used car sales. Not actually bothered about whether or not the customers are getting what they want or need just eager to do a deal: any old deal. A move for Bentekkers would really feel like "any old deal".

I agree with that. Movement is extremely important. But I do think we need both.

I don't disagree regarding Barkley at all, he's one i've wanted all window and think Poch will work wonders with him.

I just think that we need to spend money on front a front player/players with pace and movement and Benteke certainly doesn't tick either of those boxes along with the fact that his goal scoring record is deteriorating all the time.

Quite possibly but if we have an option to swap VJ for CB and Poch thinks that it's an upgrade then why not? As I say it all depends on how expensive it is and if it stops us doing other things.

I think there will always be an element of opportunism to transfer windows. I doubt anyone thought Benteke would be available but perhaps now he is.

I'm not sure it's needless. We need a back up striker who can score goals. For all Bentekes faults he knows where the goal is.

He'd probably settle in quickly with the number of Belgian players at the club already.

Saying that he just doesn't seem to fit the kind of player that we'd sign.
