Looking back at some of the points Hercules made,
Aurier, Foyth and Barkley sound like we're confident they'll happen. Sancho, probably could go either way between now and next week. Sessegnon I can't see happening. Striker, not even going to think about it, if it happens it happens.
Interesting one for me was outside chance of loan with option to buy for €40-50m from Italy. That kind of money gets you a player currently actually doing the business, not someone with potential to do it down the line, like the annual pilgrimage to the French league for a £10m gamble.
Not gonna go into a guessing game (as I like my status on this site to remain unrestricted) but it would definitely suggest a player of significant calibre, and someone currently not in their clubs plans if they're prepared to loan them out.
Interesting week ahead.

The mystery Italian #gamechanger from Herc's ITK sounds like a striker as well - he hinted that their arrival means VJ would leave

Either way, happy with what's happening. Confident it'll be a solid window!

Reading those Hercules posts really doesn't look that positive

Aurier - is the one I want but I just can't see how we can do it

Except for Barkley and foyth

The wing forwards from Spain at 10m will be dodgy footballers unless we throw something silly at inaki williams (although we've never been linked to him he's the only really decent achieveable player so please don't spam this thread with inaki chat)

Providing we sign players we need (aurier and Barkley), I have absolutely no problem with us getting a young prospect from france/Spain for around 10m.

For me, a wide forward was always a bonus this summer, if we can get big money targets, great, but ultimately, if we're priced out, don't want us buying big money players if they're not the players poch wants.

A year ago, ousmane dembele cost 10m, we bought Alli for 5m, and bale for 8m (a while ago, I know), you never know with so called prospects. Sometimes they work out (the 3 mentioned, plus many more), sometimes they don't (n'jie, n'koudou and VJ (last 2 could have a future), but I'd rather we bought a new guy who might be the next big thing for 10m, then punting 30m on another sissoko

If the 40-50 mill is not limited to Italy then Williams isn’t a bad shout, His release clause is €50m

Seriously no Danny joke, I had to google him

Did we have any ITK on this guy?

The two defining holes in the squad that must be filled if we want to compete for the title and be competitive across four competitions are a dynamic right back and a right wing forward with pace, creativity and end product. Foyth, Gazzaniga and even Barkley are luxury signings who would likely see little playing time this calendar year when we will face a load of difficult fixtures across three competitions (my personal opinion differs from many on Barkley, as his performances dipped massively down the stretch last season for Everton where he had 0 goals and 1 assist in his last 10 EPL matches and his lack of interceptions/tackles per 90 over the last two years doesn't bode well for him supplanting any of our key attackers in a high pressing system [though I'd rather sign him than no one, obviously]).

By the way, for those of you wanting Josh King, go watch his performance from last week against Watford. It was disastrous and showed how completely limited he is as a creative spark for a team. Our attacking midfielders have to be able to create for others and King simply isn't that kind of player. Even if someone holds the view that King is an outstanding striker who will get goals no matter what, why exactly would Bournemouth (0 goals and 0 points through two games) sell him in the last days of the window? They're going to be relegation candidates in the most competitive Premier League ever, and they would have no time to properly replace him.
I completely agree with this mate.
Spot on.
Sissoko and GKN were bought to be our 'Mane' in the RAM role and neither look like cutting it. The thing is who out there is there like that for us to sign? The only 2 I've noticed we've been linked with have been Martial and Kieta Balde, Man.Utd ain't selling us Martial and tbh why would he come to us anyway as he wouldn't be guaranteed starter anyway, Balde seems to be a no go and want Juventus.

If we get Aurier this will help as our width comes from our FB's then we overload inside which is why Walker gone and Rose our is such a huge loss to the way we play. Even though we tend to build up play and hem teams in I agree we do need someone with pace and end product to help release the pressure at times and to provide an option on the counter attack and Son as our only vaguely quick option isn't good enough really. The positive spin id try to put on it would be that if we play 3 at the back more often then we only have the 2 positions behind which Ali and Eriksen will primarily take in which case Barkley coming in to compete with Son for those would make sense IF we can at least get aurier in so he provides some pace on the right.

I'm sure Poch will have highlighted this as something he needed but seems it's easier said than done to find this type of player. I can't even think of many in the prem we could nab...

Is it 'ball over the top' pace we're after, or someone who carries the ball at their feet at pace, when ITK are suggesting pacy forwards? Because isn't one of Barkley's strengths his ability to drive forward with the ball? Perhaps not the sheer athletically pacy forward as such that some are screaming out for, but equally a different weapon in our armoury when carrying the ball at the opposition at pace.

He is a bit unpredictable at least but I'd say more run with the ball at pace like mane rather than ball over the top pace like Vardy.

Hercules said that Aurier was still positive, but the paperwork is a bit more complicated than we thought. Hopefully it just means that it will the an extra day or two.

There's too many games being made by respective clubs at present. It's like a rollercoaster of emotions on here right now, everyone is reacting emotionally to every flex. I like to think at this stage the club knows what it's doing and will not full like a pack of cards at this stage.

Poch is clear on the numbers he wants, I believe he'd only show this confidence if he was pretty sure things would come together.

He was talking about next year though, not now. You've read his post and you've seen something which isn't there, or as I call it, a reverse Hot Spur.

Depressing if we sold Walker without demanding Sancho due to it holding up the deal. So City didn't like that? Well then they don't get the best RB in the league. Shameful to lose out on one of the best talents in the world due to it being an inconvinience to City.
