I've got a genuine question, just a curiosity really. The question is why would someone close to the business end of a deal leak info of a deal (presumably at the risk of scuppering the deal or jeopardising his/her job) to a 3rd party, to post on a fans forum?

Now mods, don't go banning me for asking what I would consider a perfectly reasonable and valid question. This isn't by any means calling anyone's info into question, or 'bashing'.

A lot of the sources are presumably not close, but are themselves recipients of info passed on, or what can be more construed as gossip. In many cases they probably don't expect that their conversation will be posted on a football fan forum.

I concur with that and add, that when we are doing a deal like Modric and Berbatov the ITK is unknown as we have to keep it very quiet and to not inform anyone or to disclose any info or we could wreck the deal through confidentiality or by alerting other teams and get into a price war, this i think is happening with Suarez and why we are not really or firmly being mentioned in the press.
In reality a lot of ITK comes out once the initial contact or deal has been done which is after the events, though we like to think we are at the cutting edge of what is happpening in reality it has been going on for months and we are just hearing the end of the deals or chats in the last few days.
The posters who question if we are actually doing anything or risk losing incoming players through our lack of activity or too hard bargaining from Levy unfortunately do not understand the whole process.
Adief is very close with his source but i imagine his source is a day or 2 behind the info so as to not jeopardise any deals. The board and management are not stupid and they are aware of ITK and understand what is going on.:wink:

Newspapers often get wind of deals before they're completed. DOn't know where they get the info from, but it does happen.

Yep, i'm ITK.

We just have to take the transfer window with a MASSIVE dose of salt as we are on a months journey of transfer ups and downs and its not reality but what goes on at football clubs at high levels isn't normally! so enjoy the ride and don't take it too seriously and be warned this stuff is very addictive!!

Surely Liverpool would be aware of our supposed interest in suarez. Surely if they were, it would have been broken to the media via liverpool? I.E their manager or commoli coming out and saying - "yeah we want him, but so do spurs, bla bla bla"??

Its really not that easy to keep some things a secret. Especially when there are so many people involved in negotiations and a deal - all it takes is one chinese whisper.

Yet the media have yet to pick up on our interest in Suarez. Im beggining to doubt if we are even in for him. Would be surprised if he was a spurs player come 31st Jan.

Racky im sure ive seen Spurs mentioned with Suarez in a few different articles but cant remember any quotes from anyone significant, it is strange alright
