This is a definite mess.

We have one saying Russian club have rejected our bid after accepting, one saying agent wants more money, one saying Chelsea have outbid us, one saying Willian wants more wages from us, one saying the agent wants him to go to Liverpool, one saying the agent wants him to come to us, SSN saying Willian said he has agreed a 5 year deal and one saying (I.e me WTF!)

Just to reiterate what I said last night.
Tottenham sent off the paperwork and were just waiting for approval.
I don’t know the legalities of that.

If his license has been changed; can’t see a way out if. But that is opinion.

Cheers Journo. Any snippets you get are always appreciated by ol' Stoofio.

I wouldnt classify Willian as a creative player necessarily in the Modric, Pirlo, Xavi sense. He does create through his speed and intelligent running but he is more of a player that cuts in and sets up from the wings. He could do a job in a No.10 jersey but I think that is more the Modric, Xavi type. TBH I am not fussed if he doesnt come. I am ore interested in Lamela because he can be all things - creator, finisher, provider from the wing. AVB could work wonders with the lad.

I haven't seen much of the boy to be honest. I find it amazing that we all rate him so highly and I'd say at least half of us haven't really seen enough of him to make any sort of judgement. We need to calm down and just let the events unfold. I'm prett certain that we have enough in our locker to go out there and find someone else. Be positive boys :) 30 million gets you a lot of player and there are plenty of other clubs out there with very good playmakers for that sort of money that our very good FB will know of :)

I think we all had our 3 min on youtube to make a judgement here - so zip it ;)

What Willian's agent hasn't bargained for is Sandro jumping out of Willian's wardrobe this morning and doing his best Evil Monkey impression... Once this happens everything will be fine.

All I know is that I'm glad I'm out for a lot of today. Wasted my whole evening last night glued to my laptop in the hope of a definitive and positive outcome to the Willian situation :D

In all seriousness I do wonder if our Brazilian players are constantly on the blower to him to join us. I would like to think they would be but I doubt it

Headed to bed y'all.........hopefully in 9hrs we'll have a few signings!
9hrs sleep!!! Are u kidding me.

if Willian was to sign now, it will make are pulling power more stronger, we fought off the money bag Chelsea. If he doesn't then we can all conclude wat twat they both are.

either way, i am loving every moment of this window

From jj's info it sounds like it might be down to the player now. That's us screwed then unfortunately.

He will chose Chelsea I would have thought.

So JJ says Chelsea will meet his wage demands, suggesting that we won't? But surely we already have for the deal to be so close to ratification?

I'm starting to hate his transfer window!!! (Crazy I know considering the great signings we have made) if Willian backtracks now imagine the reception he will get from us!

What kind of player is Willian.............

Go the the players thread and find out! In here, we discuss ITK, not wether or not a player can nutmeg 16 fullbacks, do a triple barrell roll and tap the ball in with his cock from 25 yards out.

I actually feel Lamela is the more unique player bearing in mind his potential.

If Willian doesn't fancy coming to spurs, playing every game and getting into that Brazilian World Cup squad then fuck him and his bastard agent. He's not worth 35million. There are other cheaper players out there who can unlock the door that can be just as good for us.

We've probably offered him wages which he accepted! Doesn't mean that's what he wanted. He had no choice but to accept because no other club wanted him. However if Chelsea come along and offer an extra £30-40k pw nothing we can do really. Hopefully AVB and Franco can convince him and his agent that Tottenham is the right club for him.

Willian is beginning to smell like the Moutinho and Leandro Damiao deals. He's a very decent player but Anzhi paid way too much for him. Personally I won't be distraught if we miss out as I only rate him as a £20M player and for £30M (if that is his price) we can do better. We can't afford to bugger about with timewasters like Kia and Anzhi. Let Chelsea have him; he won't improve them much. If Bale stays all the better.

Frankly i'd rather keep Bale and Townsend than lose both and sign Willian and Lamela (& I really rate Lamela). We could for example buy Pjanic instead of Willian (Roma won't sell both Pjanic and Lamela) and save £10M, keep Bale, win the premiership and screw over Real Madrid and all our challengers who are waiting for the Real fire sale following the Bale purchase.

I'm not sure why everyone is turning on Willian. He's been offered the chance of playing for another team and wants to have a think about it before he makes a decision. Lets wait for the decision before we write him off shall we? Because if he say no to Chelsea and comes to us then he's already a bit of a star in my eyes.

John Henry has learnt in 2 years that you can't sell players late in the window and effectively replace them. 12 years on and Daniel still thinks different.

If he chooses Chelsea I guess he gets possibly more money, CL football and realistic crack at major honours, risk of larger squad rotation

With us he gets - EL football, part of a new project, chance to work with AVB which are lead to believe is a factor, be the main man at the club and first team football every week in world cup year

You can see a case for him picking either.........but I fear Chelsea's appeal will win the day. I hope I am wrong
