Look at the rest of the league, there's been very few players sold abroad this window. Not that many deals between the teams in the league either for that matter.

With the window closing early the rest of europe can just wait. Also with the insane money in the league there's no point for the teams in the lower part of the table too buy our deadwood anymore, they can just get better/more promising players from europe.

Gone are the days when Levy could just flog some unwanted sqaud players to Stoke or Hull for a decent amount of £.

Yep...long gone are the days Levy can fleece the likes of Stoke, Sunderland or Portsmouth!

Levy to me seems like a parent who makes all decisions with your best interests at heart, and on the whole has done a really great job of raising you, but sometimes doesn’t see the wood for the trees and holds you back with a conservative and stubborn approach.

I do think having someone in the director of football role helped us in the past in getting deals done. I don’t know how hands on Levy is exactly but if he’s taking personal control of most of our business then I don’t think it’s working.

We all have daddy issues basically

Latest ITK is extremely disappointing. Levy is paying the price (pardon the pun) for his previous mistakes of throwing money around at unproven, second rate players who we are now struggling to shift in order to bring in the players we *do* want/need.

Inevitably, one of these days his gambles were not going to pay off and it seems that we are bearing the cost of that now. My only hope is that Poch sees this period through and chooses not to walk. At this moment in time I wouldn't blame him.

Who are these unproven, second rate players? You can't mean world cup winner Llorente, or French International Sissoko who played in the Euro 2016 final. I'm sure you don't mean Toby, or Dembele. So Janssen and Nkoudou? Every club will take a gamble on a young player every now and then. Sometimes they work (Sanchez, Dele), sometimes they don't. It doesn't mean our transfer strategy is broken.

Levy being ‘played’ in the game he loves...he must be regretting voting for this early transfer deadline!
Such an obvious outcome though. I can't believe someone as smart as him wouldn't have foreseen this scenario. It's mind boggling

I’m assuming all owners/clubs must’ve thought Europe would’ve followed suit as it seems a foolish move otherwise

Funny you should mention some of the clubs we used to flog to. Look what's happened to all of them! Partly our fault perhaps but ultimately their responsibility (just goes to show how quickly it can turn)

The only places that you can flog those kind of players off to these days are to Turkey, China and possibly the Russians or to the States. All the other countries are too smart these days, even those at the lower levels of the Premier League and in the Championship.

Up and coming is the best, they have a sell on value if they don't work out that's not a crippling mark down and if they do well their price can absolutely sky rocket. Underperforming players that didn't make the grade from around 4th place or under in the Prem quickly lose their allure

When I checked in earlier, Herc was basically saying it’s all gone tits up and the slapheaded dwarf is to blame.

Now seeing stories that Zaha and Grealish signings are imminent.

Is that roughly where we’re at?

Well I'm thoroughly confused by the last couple of days. No idea what to expect now. Fingers crossed.

This Levy time bollocks needs to stop. The VDV transfer was nearly a decade ago, and in recent years “Levy time” has brought us Sissoko and Llorente.
What really needs to stop is people being so damn up tight in the transfer window

‘How To Glitter Turds- a Rough Guide’, by Nailsy :ROFLMAO:

It's not that, I'm just getting bored of the revisionism. Llorente and Sissoko haven't been great for us, but you can't say they were unknowns. We had ITK for both players saying that Poch wanted them so I'm not sure why Levy gets all the blame for signing them. If you read Poch's comments about Llorente just after he signed he was absolutely delighted with the deal - he even said what a positive effect the signing had in the dressing room, how Hugo texted him to say what a great player he was etc.

you do know that at least 13 or 14 other chairman have to vote for anything to change in the rules don't you? and if I remember it was near on all that did vote for change, and I bet they all wished it had changed next season when all of Europe will be the same date again

I do find it funny how whenever we make a bad signing, people instantly blame Levy. But when a signing comes off Poch gets all the credit amongst fans. Can’t work both ways.
Poch wanting Llorente shows he can make mistakes identifying some transfers as there’s no way Levy wanted a 30+ year old for £15m. However I’m constantly reading fans saying that he was a Levy signing and he wanted a cheap option.
Levy can’t always be the scapegoat
