Hello, hello. Hello! Just checking you understand - Marie Celeste and all that. 6.22 and then 8.03 were the last two posts. Has everyone been banned or has there been a shut down of this thread again?

I see the herd of ITK antelope are still grazing in the match day thread. Time to load the old blunderbuss and head over there.

If we do get Fazio instead of Musacchio, we'd be paying AT LEAST £9million less. I hope we spend that money on someone else (e.g. Remy/Depay, Schneiderlin). Previous experience tells me that is unlikely though...

Why is it that that we expect a seat at the top table when we are not dressed appropriately to be there?

How people are happy to see "how we go" "give people more time" and all that bollocks is beyond me, when do we say right this is our time ? When do we say let's have a go at this and go challenge the big boys ? Let's be honest we are nowhere near those big boys and if they continue to get stronger and we continue to sit still we will be sat here in 2 years saying the exact same thing. I love peoples optimism on here but maybe a bit of realism would be handy ? Poch is good but he can't get the one player he really wants in ms, what chance has he got.
Fair point. I actually thought shinehead would back him all guns blazing...forget he ain't got no bullets...or guns.

No, no, no ... the blunderbuss was an early form of shotgun and as such was only effective at short range. What you need for herds of antelope is a lion. Actually, three or four lionesses would be better.

On the transfer panic, I'm happy with no more action this window. Do we urgently need a new CB? I don't think so. We have Vertonghen, Chiriches and Dier. Kaboul is a bit broken and Dawson is too "old school" but keep one as back-up. Capoue has shown he's also good back-up in that position. And besides, MM has no PL experience, is rather short for a CB and at 24 still can't make his national squad.

At CM I would like to see Schneiderlin join but don't think he's head and shoulders above what we have. Plus we have good first, second and third choice strikers and have brought in reinforcements at FB. Our attacking mids are quality and about to hit their stride this season, and our goalkeeper is second to none.

In short, there's no urgency. Let's see how Pochettino does with his new charges and replace in the next couple of windows if necessary. No more transfers this time.

Funny enough last night watching and also Saturday I couldn't help thinking how badly we need a quality playmaker in central midfield, we have plenty of midfielders but far too many are very average or not best suited and we lack that real orchestrator. To me that's crucial and I would much rather someone with those qualities than the more mixed qualities of Schneiderlin

I can't say I'm happy about having Rose or Naughton as back up full backs or Walker as a starter RB for that matter, but at least we have two players for each role and Davies last night after a weak start started to improve as the game wore on. CB's wise the biggest worry was that Verts looked just as poor last night as he did last season, hopefully it's just rustiness as he was late back for pre season. We know he can be excellent but it's been over a year now since he has shown anything like those qualities with any kind of consistency. On the plus side if Dier continues to show the kind of focus, composure and maturity beyond his years we might have a real gem on our hands.
I still think we need a left side attacker too, Andros reverting to type last night, Chadli tending to disappear and Lennon far more suited to RW.
So I can't say I'm overly happy about the window just yet even though both Dier and Davies look good signings, still we are still a week off Levy's real start of the window so lets see who else might arrive
