Glad the club is making such a smart move long term, I'd say Kane, Moura, Son and Parrott more than enough depth for leading the line, Llorente for 1 more year would be fine also but I hope the club accelerates Parrott tbh, no point signing a average striker who will barely get on the pitch and will take time to adapt.

Last August i mentioned that MP wanted to promote/use more youth and i think looking at the squad yesterday we are starting to see that plan moving forward....
Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sessegnon, Clarke and the integration of some young players would be one of the best strategies/windows we've ever had.

I'd also hope we scout more young British players - like Clarke - if we feel certain positions are lacking in the academy/youth.

But I'm really loving the strategy.

A model where we fill supporting roles with talented youth and spend the right money to get in big talents can only be beneficial imo. We’ve been great in the Poch era but our only flaw has been the “squad role” signings of players like Nkoudou, Janssen etc. The youth we have right now can do a better job with the right motivation.

Agreed. I think the stand outs for me were Tangana, TP and Skipp even though weve seen Skipp before, i dont think he was up to it then, but seeing him yesterday, hes defo improved...i thought Georgiou played well too...

I do not have any intel on Llorente 1 year proposal. But we do not want to spend good money on a ‘back-up’ (word I don’t like). Whilst Troy may not be ready, and the potential of the kid which we signed from Notts County. I am hearing that we are concerned about spending large in that department.

Tentative inquiries have taken place on experienced ‘back-ups’, but proving challenging, as quality experience have options. If a very good and attractive deal is there near the end of the window, we look at it.

This is my opinion now! All down to Llorente I would say.

Considering Parrot’s showing yesterday I’d say keeping Llorente and him will do us just fine.

Im not the only one to mention this but there could be a couple more promising youngsters coming in this window...

There's too much good news coming through, I'm not sure I can handle it.

Thanks for the info as always, chaps.

Hopefully one who is an attacker with pace. I still think we lack real pace upfront and in the wide areas. It’s all reliant on Moura and Son. If one gets injured we are suddenly quite slow again.

Believe Llorente's agent came out in public and said they had absolutely zero intention of signing on again with Spurs

It makes sense really. We made too many wasted money moves with Squad players (janssen, Nkoudou, Clinton etc).
The best strategy seems to be push for quality that will directly help (Tanguy, LoCelso) and fill the other gaps with promising youth players from preferable your own academy.

I am relly excited to see more out of Parrott, Skipp, Tanganga, Georgiou or Roles in pre season. If they show up their why not use them as squad players?

Thanks as always Herc! Personally i am minded to think Kane, Son, Moura and Parrott is enough cover for the CF role however i certainly wouldn't be against Llorente signing for another year or another experienced back up (i.e. Sturridge) coming in to bolster things.

Makes sense regarding strikers. I’m sure we can get somebody better than Llorente for under say £15m. We should have gone for Jay Rodriguez. He went to Burnley for £10m.

That would make (assuming GLC and Sess come in) a great window, into a truly brilliant one. Bloody exciting. Feels like it's coming together

Hopefully Mbappe.

But seriously, love these updates. It’s what we should do and hopefully we see that focus switch to trying to buy very young and building an academy with talent all over the pitch. We hear so much about the facilities and how great they are, but we need the players (cough furniture cough) from top to bottom to really bring the whole project along. Very exciting times!

Great model, the sort of thing you should be able to benefit from with consistent coaching staff, which we are lucky to have. Skipp yesterday looking like he'll be saving us the need to invest in DM going forward, Parrott likewise (albeit maybe a year too soon) and potentially KWP at right back too. Really helps with HG rules as well.

If this then allows us to add the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele without major sales then even better!
