Only way Maitland-Niles makes sense is if he were available on a free transfer.
Or if he comes to us for a small fee, turns out to be amazing and then rants about Arsenal on an open topped bus with 1/3 of Colombia’s GDP up his snout...

I'm happy with the ITK. I've always felt Maitland-Niles had a good skillset, but the Gooners had no clue as how to use him. Part of me thinks he will be a homegrown version of what we hoped Gedson would be.

Agree with this. Think he'd be a definite upgrade on Gedson.

Now the club have come out and denied the rumours. I can now disclose what was disclosed behind closed doors. He wants ideally to stay in London. His agent was trying to gear up interest from us to bid for him. He is pally with couple of our lads, from academy years. One particular family member was telling his agent that we were interested. That is why my comments were as they were!

Hm. Thanks for the update. Don't think we'd actually pay for him anyway - I'm sure we'd be interested if he was on a free though!

We'll see. There's definitely a few spots of greater need than splurging that 20m on Maitland-Niles.

Most people think we need a backup RB and cover at CM/DCM. Dier used to be our utility player but he is now firmly a CB so I can see the need. It's going to be a long season we need a good squad.

It’s been disconcertingly quiet on all fronts this week besides Hart. The main point of news has been a long shot Arsenal youth product. Hope it means lots going on behind the scenes!

So he would be prepared to sell his soul to the devil!? Must be a Spurs fan.

You’ve got to bank on it being the latter. When you consider our fixture buildup and registration deadlines, it’s more crucial than ever to get players in early. Either Levy’s on holiday or we’re running the tightest ship in the Prem because there hasn’t been a concrete link all week sans Aurier.

Eze was on the clubs radar last summer and they were (pre corona) planning to make a move this summer but it appears that other clubs further down the table will be his destination as he wants first team football and spurs are prioritising other positions. Aurier close to leaving the club and Spurs in talks with several RBs (one more advanced) and CFs. After that we are looking to add CBs and other attacking midfielders (although depends on outgoings- Lamela, Foyth, Sissoko etc). No update on Winks.

Great to see the same messages. Strengthen in key areas and if possible strengthen in other areas that are currently less desperate but probably will be in the mid term future

Thanks! Winks surely staying!
Sissoko would be a good next sale. Sadly Lamela also.
Foyth may be worth keeping around (if the ins are HG) as he can play 3 positions and surely will improve with Jose coaching on defensive side.

Shame about Eze but hes better showing himself at Palace or another. I think he'd be used sparingly for us and he needs consistent game time to build confidence and develop.

If you had to say what we need to do in this window with the squad I think you'd be hard pushed to disagree with our intentions here. We seem to be targeting the right areas and hoping for the right players to leave. Let's hope the transfer targets are solid too.

Thanks for the info!!

It was disconcertingly quiet until about 2 hours before Hart broke on the usual news feeds.

My point? Relax. As the ITKs have said, plans are afoot. Just sit back & enjoy what's about to happen.
