probably mostly opinion from dragon1:
Was never going to be a busy summer we have a 400 million loan to clear over five years and right now we don't have the increased stadium revenue or naming rights money in yet , we will be lucky if the move sissoko on and we spend that plus what we got for Nabil and carol

I really like dragon1. One of the old school ITK with a great record. Certainly worth listening to.

I think a squad that has finished third then second can be described as pretty settled. If Walker goes, we already have Trippier to slip straight into the first eleven. Maybe a decent backup will come in, but I wouldn't expect any major surprises.

This was always going to be the case with the new stadium coming in. Just be thankful that we already have a great squad that doesn't require much investment.

If you take what he is saying as truth, what does it say about 'will not effect our transfer budget'? No answers or debate needs to be opened up. Just saying that's all.

I was the one who dug out and posted that Levy quote on this forum last year. It's probably why A&C remembers it.

It was from 2008.

I am not dissing the info but I am fed up with hearing we do not have the money because we are not in champs league...but we are and have been for two years running...we do not have a the revenue of a big stadium...but we are at Wembley with 90k capacity. No more fecking excuses please its boring.

In a 4-2-3-1 Son defo starts. In a 3 At back maybe not .If dragon had said bent and carol money ,sure bentaleb was £17m what's was carol about £10m.imo our 2 priorities are a AM and a CB.so say we got £40m for sissoko and wimmer plus £27 .still give us £70m odd to fill those 2 positions which would be more than fine.

I wonder if they are waiting to see how Edwards performs in the U19s.If he were to have an outstanding tournament,it could influence their thinking. At 18 if he's really that good he should at least be able to be a solid choice off the bench next season.

Thing is, we spent quite a bit last summer and surely our financial situation is better then last year. So why wouldn't we spend money again. We finished higher in the table, got to a cup semi final and got CL again. I don't expect us to spend hundreds of millions but why would we be more stingy then we were last summer, especially if we sell a few.

Just a dose of reality here (fuelled by beer obviously) but city spent quadrillions and finished where exactly?, united were so far behind us that we weren't even worried about them!, arsenal likewise...

So maybe walker has been sold a dream at city or wherever, four questions for you... yeah, and, so, what. Did walker set up more goals for Kane than trippier? I honestly don't know but I would hazard a guess that if he did it wasn't by many. Now don't get me wrong I think walker is ace... but he isn't David ginola or gazza ace, he is Steve Carr ace... as in ... ok mate go and chase your bank account and jog on. Certainly not a reason to get my underwear slightly askew.

Regarding signings ... meh!!! Break up what was widely regarded as the best team of last season(walker aside!) ... fuck that!!!

Finances we can't influence, the guys in charge have to make that boat float and I'm sure they want success as well but, thankfully, they won't buy success at any cost ... we are doing things sustainably... it might not mean immediately but it will bear fruit.

hertyid:
We are not going to spend 50m on one player. So everyone can just forget about that and move on.
If we sign players they will be either talent for the future or non-star players like Wanyama or Son.
Most likely we sell Walker + a couple of others and use the money to buy 2-3 on Poch's list.

So, that ITK suggests zero net spend summer again. Kind of used to it by now. Won't lose any sleep over it.
Bentaleb was about £17m? Carroll about £5m? But should we also count the other loanees that aren't returning, Fazio about £3m? Njie about £7m? So £32m, plus whatever we can raise from Walker and Sissoko. That actualy gives us a pretty significant pot of cash.
Realistically, three signings required, a RB to replace Walker, an added CB to allow better coverage for 3 at the back and free up Dier to cover DM, plus another AM type player to give us a different dynamic in attack. For what's it's worth, I don't think Wimmer will leave. Incomings probably won't be big names, as we've heard, more like talented youngsters on the way up, who we feel give us greater balance as opposed to out and out walk into the 1st XI game changers. Sum of the team is greater than that of its individual's etc etc.
Probably won't spend half of what is raised.
Arguably, ITK suggested Pereira (£20m ish) and Ginter (£15m ish) were being looked at, but strictly no further, yet. Pereira offers versatility of RB, LB or RW. Ginter offers versatility of CB, RB or DM. Finally an AM, Barkley (not gonna guess at that fee) initially got the thumbs up as Poch's choice, but all quiet since. Beyond that, place a little faith in what we have within. Walker-Peters at RB and LB if needed, proved that at U20 WC, also Onomah to compete with Winks for Dembele understudy. Would tie in with what Poch said at the end of last season. Lamela coming back, if fully recovered, will be like a new signing also.
Let's see what the coming weeks bring. I was one of those initially that felt frustrated by our lack of action whilst City and Utd made early moves, but in reality, they have big ground to make up, we just need to fine tune. COYS!

have a look over at Everton and then what we are doing and it is laughable, actually have a look at any prem team or top europen team and you'd think we are a third league swedish outfit, levy really has covered how the supporters think the club doesnt have money

Just to play devils advocate. If the sissoko deal was structured as suggested with 6mil per year for 5 years or whatever. Any money we get for him would just pay that off wouldnt it?

Anyway............people need to just relax a bit. We had the best 11 in the league imo and we will make some purchases but upgrades on our 11 would cost way too much in todays market. We are surely looking for first team options not first team replacements.

Oh come on. Everton and others have either bought because they need to due to having weakness or in the case of man city buying because they want shiny new play things. Bernardo silva for instance, how many attacking midfielders can they play??

If we had massive weaknesses then maybe we would be more active(publically) but lets face it we dobt know just how active we are behind the scenes

Seems quite conceivable that we could actually sign no one apart from a Walker replacement this summer.

Don't get why people are so downtrodden by the recent ITK about only spending the money from Bentaleb/Carrol/N'Jie and possibly Sissoko. You're talking around 40million to spend there. Now I know that doesn't buy you as much these days, but did people realistically expect much more than that?

We have a great squad with good depth in most areas, we only need 1/2 signings.
Furthermore if Walker goes, which won't be for cheap, we'll likely replace him with an almost certainly much cheaper alternative and free up spending elsewhere if the possibility presents itself.

Didn't JJ say that we were "in the market" at the beginning of the summer? I'm sure we will be looking to bring in at least an AM and a Walker replacement (if he goes), and also possibly a CB or a CM, and maybe a young talent for the future or two.

Poch made it unambiguously clear toward the end of the season that we had a plan for the summer. We may have missed out on Lemar and Sessegnon but everyone needs to calm down, there are plenty of quality players out there and by the end of the window I'm confident we will have seen at least some activity.
