After the extravagances of last summer, I'm looking forward to a downturn in quantity and an upturn in quality. A couple of good 'uns would be enough, provided we unload some of our less successful purchases.

Masturbation, suicide and debating whether the "agree" rating is valuable enough to also be deemed as a "yes". Another productive day on the ITK front

Masturbation or suicide, that's a bit like standing on the edge of a cliff and trying to decide whether to toss yourself off or err.... toss yourself off no? :D

Matt Law agrees, hence the link with John O'Shea :)

The next ITK snippet will cause the biggest collective ejaculate in the history of mankind.

Maybe.

It could just be "Dawson signing new contract"

In which case it will cause the biggest collective suicide in the history of mankind.

That's the knife edge we're poised upon here....

You realise we've already had ITK that Dawson's going to be staying?

Tommy Trinder?

Actually now you come to mention it there was a Max Miller gag that was along similar lines, iirc he was climbing an ice chimney as a girl was coming down and he wasn't sure whether to block her passage or toss himself off
Slightly different I guess with suicide or masturbation because you have a choice of coming or going

I need to see that O'Shea isn't happening. Shambles of a player.

Aren't we supposed to be past signing aging PL talent?....When Tim left shouldn't of all the rumours about us signing players in their decline because of their "blood and thunder" approach have dried up?

We have Poch now....shouldn't we be inundated with rumours connecting us to dozens of Argies who none of have ever heard of but we can proudly proclaim will be the "Argentinian Beckenbauer" or the second coming of Ledders?

sigh....

I'm pleased we haven't done any business yet. I want the manager to have time to assess the squad and determine weeknesses. I'm confident that we will get a LB and CB at some point so that's all that really matters.

Add a new striker and that'll do nicely:)

What if the new manager assesses the squad and finds he needs six new players?

Then we set about finding players for him? I'd rather we wait until later/january/next summer and address squad issues that the manager has identified than buy a bunch of players because they are cheap and hope the manager likes them.

Well I am sure that Pochettino knows the players he likes and he's been talking to us long enough that the club know these players, so the issue is not about buying a bunch of players we hope the manager likes but how much he feels he needs certain players to strengthen key areas.
I think everyone sees different areas that need strengthening even assuming no key players leave, the trouble with waiting too long is that you can miss out on players you want and prices for others might go up as you get more desperate
I don't really think pre season is going to be enough to give any manager a decent enough time to assess players, sure you can get a decent feel of a players character and temperament but training and friendlies are a lot different than competitive games. I would hope that Pochettino has already got a few things in mind from evaluating us as opponents and through spending time looking at videos of our games. Any manager worth his salt who is serious about taking the job should have a very good feel for the strengths and weaknesses of the team and how players might fit into his style.
I would expect Poch to have a pretty clear picture of those he wants to keep and those he wants to offload with just a handful of players where he wants to take a closer look before deciding
I'd rather we act early, bring in players to address weaknesses and have the new players gel with their new team mates, I certainly don't want to wait until January or next summer otherwise it will be another wasted season
