Those of us who are labelled "Optimists" think Pep might be worth a punt, or would be if I had the dough to spare! :)

the alarm going off at 5.30 am for another monday morning kick start to a looooong week at work.

I don't work on Tuesdays at the moment so every Monday is a bit like a Friday for me.

Just thought I'd share that.

Will be interesting to see if speculation intensifies tomorrow and Tuesday, although I suspect we still might be none of the wiser this time next week.

I'm all for the upgrading of the training facilities, maybe I'm old skool but I was taught to train under under lesser conditions e.g Tennis ball, bumpy or muddy pitch. I found that when playing with normal size ball/on a nice pitch it was luxury and a lot easier.

If we are not any further forward this time next week then I think we can safely assume our target/s our in and around the Euros.

Message to the chairman: not the dutch coach please

And you don't think that these top coaches and managers wonld prefer to work with a top of the line training facility?
i never claimed that, in fact quite the opposite.
my point was that it seems the new facillities are being blown slightly out of proportion with regard to how attractive the club becomes to a new coaching team. yes, its a pull factor having somewhere nice to train but having nice facillities does not automatically mean that your youth system will suddenly begin producing amazing young talents.
unless you have the right scouts, coaches and managers to develop the youth team (which i dont believe redknapps backroom team were) you wont see a marked improvement in youth players.

Didn't Chelsea spend a fortune on training facilities/and our old director of football?
They also snapped up lots of young players and how many have come through to make the first team?

If we are no further forward by this time next week, that may lead us to suspect we are trying for Blanc. However, seeing how DL seems to love protracted negotiations, he might just be trying to bore our candidate into submission!

I dunno, I think vertonghen has seen the new training facility and think its a massive pull.

If a player sees a club are willing to invest £40-£50m on a training complex like that then it smacks of a club trying to go places. I think many are underestimating just how good these facilities are. They are some of the best in the country and Europe from what I've seen and heard

If he was up for coming to the prem he would be at chelsea already. They have got a man with dough to spare.

Quite possibly, but he is, apparently, quoted as saying that he wants a project rather than money. Now we don't know exactly what he regards as a project, but Spurs can certainly put forward a good case as one in progress!

True. But for a moment, remember that Levy's strategy, if all is to be believed, is to grow organically from within, which means huge emphasis being put on this new Academy training facility delivering, and delivering quckly.

Unlike Swansea, Spurs won't necessarily go for Championship / Div One players to load up the first team squad - rather pick these players up in their early development and put them in to this process, driven by this new Coach from top to bottom.
I just think that is the thinking at the top, £40m investment, they want it used properly

I just think this training facility spiel is a bit lame if it's being cited as a reason to change manager. The point is we need a better coach regardless of the state of our training facilities.

We all know Redknapp wasn't much of a coach and Levy may have made some throwaway remark like "I've not just spent 40m on new facilities so Redknapp can spend all morning studying the Racing Post" but I don't believe he would think "right, that's the shiny 40m facilities completed, must get a slightly shinier new manager to match colour scheme"

I believe that Levy has possibly come round to the idea that Redknapp for all his qualities, wasn't a great coach, and is looking for someone with a slightly deeper philosophy and methodology.

But do you smell of wee-wee? If you do its a bad sign. My daughter has already told me the minute she catches a whiff of piss i'm being packed off to a home. That stopped me pissing in the sink I can tell you.

No problems with smelly wee wee I just use Febreeze

That's very true. The problem, as I see it is that their owner likes to splash the cash and buy the ready made article. It's a bit like buying a new car rather than spending time and effort into building your own kit car. Although I'm sure someone will come up with a better analogy.

Just a note for anyone who hasn't seen the Daily Mail article for tomorrow's paper, one of the Croatian players (Mate Bilic who plays for Gijon) says he is good friends and Modric is close to a move to Spain. It's in the Modric thread.

Know its not ITK but thought I'd point people there for that if they haven't seen it.
