Be surprised if we got WB but he did say our stadium is best he's played in, I just find the negotiation aspect of that deal a bit too difficult.

Yeah it's probably best to avoid dealing with mid-table PL clubs in this current era of TV money. That said AWB is a right back at the end of the day. Do mid to lower PL teams really need top class full backs? They could cash in at say £45m and use that to bolster their attack whilst bringing in a serviceable replacement. Even my Palace supporting colleague sees that logic.

There is without question a lot more to be optimistic about this window. The club is a far more attractive proposition than it has been in the past. Players and agents seem far keener to commit earlier than they have in previous windows where we have been a back up option to a number of players, had their preferential moves fell through.

Cheers @Trix this is the kind of info I like to see. Very optimistic about this window. We should be able to compete and importantly it seems like the money is now there. Really hope we can get the Ndombele deal over the line especially.

Will would pay what they want, if we saw there was a chance. Now let’s be sensible before sarcasm steps in because o said ‘pay whatever they want’. Common sense should comprehend what I am trying to say.

Fair enough. The way I see it, Utd need a RB more than we do, and if AWB became available, they'd quickly blow us out of the water financially.

The thing with AWB is that I don't see Palace allowing both him and Zaha to go this summer.

At the moment though they are well and truly pricing Zaha out of a move. CP have clearly told the media 100m to allow for actual bids around the 70m - 80m mark presumably, which they simply won't get meaning outside of him kicking up a fuss - which I don't think he'll do - then he won't leave.

Ultimately that leaves more of a chance to get AWB who I think would cost 40-50m in today's crazy market.

We need a new RB and IMO he would be the absolute best choice for us. He could be our RB for the next 10 years.

That is pretty sound logic, I didn't think of it that way but it does make sense. If they dig their heels in, I just wonder if there's similar talent on the continent for far cheaper but I'm a big fan of him.

As per the ITK it seems Ole really has a thing for trippier, plus United already have a young prospect at RB who they bought for decent money. So they may not what to stunt his growth and favour a more experienced player while he’s still progressing.

If we can offset Aurier and Trippier for about £40m combined, then it’s worth throwing the extra £15m or so at AWB when he can potentially be our starting right back for the next 10+ years, with KWP deputising.

From what Herc is suggesting the big issue with him may be competition. The fact there's less smoke around AWB than Sess, Ndombele and Lo Celso suggests that RB is an area we are still weighing our options up on currently.

From what I am hearing, nobody would even consider 75-80m for Zaha. Ridiculous contract with-I’ll advised he signed. I ‘think’ if they get a good offer they would be persuaded with WB. Then again, he has around 3 years left on his new contract.

Agree with that. My interpretation was: if we thought he'd join, we'd pay the fee. But we're not going to go crazy just to fuel a bidding war that we wouldn't win, and in the meantime, potentially harm the chances of getting other RB targets

Ole really is the gift that keeps on giving.

- Does well enough to get the permanent job.
- Acts as a meat shield preventing Utd trying to poach Poch.
- Turns Utd's form to shit again.
- Can't get fired yet and buys a bunch of dross as no-one wants to play for him/Woodward is a clown.

If he buys Tripper and paves the way for us to sign AWB he's a borderline club legend.

We have quite a few good players available in the market for RB spot. If Toby is going, then we have a problem- I don't think there are that many good CBs available at a reasonable price. If it comes to Toby leaving or Toby running out his contract I would chose the later. I guess he has shown last season he can put the contract issue behind & play for us. Having said, I cant see Levy letting him leave for nothing. His position is lot harder to fill. I dont think we have enough in the squad to make it up from within.

Of course Toby can go if we are offered £25m. Doesn’t mean it will cost that though. What would we actually accept when no one bites? £15m? Less?

He's got a release clause so we can't stop him going if it's met.

Why would you think a top class CB won't be bought for £25m?
Yes he's aging but he's still got a couple of good years left.

I'd rather keep him, save the money out of this seasons transfer pot trying to replace him. Give foyth another bedding in year. Then Toby can go to Ajax on a free the season after.

Because Spurs would like to recoup some cash to put towards a replacement? If United come along and say £15m or nothing. Take it or leave it now and we know he will go in 12 months time then a serious discussion will take place. Only onions of course.
