Why don't the chaps in charge of the money go and take a long hard look at themselves within the context of our squad in it's current state and the miracles Poch has worked, and stump up for Pochs proffered on this occasion.
It hasn't necessarily always been about money why they turned us down, has it?

Because as Herc said, they don't want to come to us. We can'tget them no matter.

I suspect that something has to change if we really believe we will do better in the summer operating the way we do. I already stated that our preferred is not their preferred. That is why I stated that challenging times for the club and Poch. We can’t get his preferred, he has to go have a long hard look at himself. Not a criticism, but observation.

Well we know what option Poch will have in the summer...

The problem is the players Poch wants, don't want us by the sounds of it.

Think we know how this one ends in the summer...!

Poch may just be forcing the issue, buy me quality and pay the fucking money needed to get them. If we can't do that for whatever reason <insert stadium cost here> then will he really stick around, will our key players keep faith? Like you say I guess challenging times are ahead and we have to hope for the best.

Bit worrying if they don't want to come to us for reasons other than money because surely we are an attractive club in a footballing aspect

Doesn't make me hopeful if Poch has desires to sign certain players and there's clubs circling who can sign those type of players. Looking forward to this window being finished so I can shut the slither of hope in my brain up.

Prospectively, two transfer windows in a row with only sales is a bit too much for me.

Wonder who we've been wasting time flirting with lately?

Fucking hell. I don't understand, how can there not be another AM. / Striker or CM available that Poch is happy with? We literally have no Central Midfielders and our back up striker to Kane is a donkey. Even Ryan Babel on loan would be better than Llorente. :banghead:

How much did we get for Dembele? 11m? Well that’s how much we’d spend on a striker or CM so guess Poch doesn’t fancy any players in that price range. Sorry but if there was a Poch player suddenly available for 40-50m we wouldn’t try and sign them in my opinion unless we sold someone first. Unless he’s the pickiest manager in the world I’m sure there is plenty of players who you could get if bid that money for.

Sounds like we are at a crossroads as a club. We have a great group of players and are very close to winning major things, but just need a player or two to push us over that edge. Yet that player wont come (for whatever reason).

Is it simply money? Or is it the players feel they are above us? Just a guess but we have heard many times from ITK about agent fees and wages - we probably have to pay way above what Levy is comfortable with in agent fees and wages to get these players interested and that is just not going to happen. And so we get no one.

This season looked so promising going into the summer with the stadium and a great group of young players and now it sort of feels like it's slipping away. No transfers, Eriksen wanting Madrid, now the injuries. And based on ITK no solution is on the offing to any of those things. Sad.

As I said in another thread we are shooting ourselves in the foot with our transfer strategy.

And I really couldn't care less where the fault lies. Just hope it doesn't set us back.

very worrying news to say the least, we are struggling for numbers as it is & now with dele's injury you would have thought there would be more emphasis on purchases, results next week could dictate poch's urgency

I can only assume from the ITK that Poch has identified some top drawer prospects that he wants to sign, but that these players are being courted by megaclubs and don't have any interest in us.

It's all well and good for Poch to want these kinds of players, and if he's adamant about them then we need to make a good-faith effort to try to bring them in (as JJ has repeatedly stated that we did with De Jong), but if the answer is a flat no then he needs to f***ing adapt.

Despite the fact that we're CL regulars and we have a shiny new stadium that we can't play in, we aren't in a position to compete against the likes of Madrid, Barca, Juve, Bayern, etc. There are surely plenty of players out there who would improve us in areas of desperate need and who aren't on those clubs' shortlists. If we go in for a player and are rebuffed, there has to be a willingness to move on to a second-tier target. It's a strategy that has served us well for many years at this point.
