I like how we just assume Brazilian equals Jackpot. Lot's of great Brazilian players, but we've done a fairly poor job of recruiting them to date.

Rodrigo Defendi = :eek:
Gilberto = :banghead:
Gomes = :nailbiting:
dos Santos (born but not naturalized) = :poop:

and finally we got it right with Sandro. To be fair, Gilberto was old, Gomes had one great year and then turned our stomachs into knots and dos Santos (both the Mexican and Brazilian halves of him) should have been better.

Hopefully it just gets better and better from Sandro on. But history tells me to be cautious. Optimistic, but very cautious.

EDIT: Right, i've had a quick search, this is what JJ's said about Burt:

The original JJetset@jetsetyid
Jason Burt at the Telegraph is getting a lot of scoops and info lately......hmmm #mateswithAVB?

It seems to be more a question than a statement and it looks like its been accepted as the truth.

Yes it may be a question, but at the same time it's JJ saying that Jason Burt's info is very good.

I don't think Jay meant all 3 coming. 2 in according to ITK plus Sandro who is already here.

Apologies if I'm speaking out of turn Jay.

Honestly, I meant all 3, but just can't add up! Cheers for the cover up though mate - I'll go with that....

"Ahem, yeah of course I only meant two of the three and I was just saying that if we ended up with Damiao, he'd do well..." :cautious:

I find a lot of joy in honesty. Delusion is not something I regard as a joyful event. And while I might be realistic in the market, I am very level headed when it comes to our play. I even came to terms with the possibility of relegation back in the Wendy fiasco and was ready to see how it would be. Glad that I didn't have to live with that one though.

after seeing all these players that we are linked with, i can confirm that the biggest difference between this and the next season will be our pressing. i think avb is moving away from the traditional playmaker, b2b, anchor, into strong-tackler-that-can-run-and-move-the-ball-fast X2, 1 anchor. with guarin/paul, dembele, sandro pressing high up means we are going to play alot more in their half than ours.

if we are having such a fucking solid midfield that can win us possession, i reckon we will also move away from the usual one winger one inverted forward to 2 inverted forward. that would be bern and bale(both has guile, pace and goals in them). i wont be surprise if bale is employed on the right, and lennon on the left more(as a sub) next season. them cutting in will essentially means we have 5 players playing in the middle of the final third.

last change will of course be our full backs. walker is fine and he will have an easier time with bale drifting in, because clearly he can only go right when attacking. avb's tactic will require the fullbacks to go down the by line often to over lap the forwards that are cutting in, which clearly is what bae hates doing. i would be really really surprise if bae is not sold by the end of this window. AP is the perfect WB for this formation as hes practically a LM. hopefully rose will be happy to be rotated as he has the potential to be a great WB as well.

i can see why we seem to be going for the FW, MF and LB first because they will be extremely essential to the change of formation. i reckon we will only get the strikers done only after we've truly settled on the formation. because variables like eg not getting bernard = bale back on left. bale back on left = back to 2 wingers, = we will need a striker thats a stronger header, whereas if we get bernard, a player with smarter off ball movement will be require because shorter passes will be played, spaces get more cramped up etc etc

This deal must be done if he has this info from avb.

Why else would avb give info on a potential deal to allow other teams to gazump us????

Burt has also said we're after Bernard who has a similar release clause and we're still in talks for Villa.

If we're getting shut of Hudd, Parker & Livermore then we need to bring in another CM as well as Paulinho IMO. They don't have to be in the calibre of him but we can't afford to be too light in that area. A couple of injuries again and we're fooked.
