wing forwards

now - bale chadli lennon townsend *siggy

possible in - lamela or willian

i'd see lennon wanting to leave in a World Cup year if he wont get to start more often than not.

would be a pity as he has built up a fine understanding with walker and is one of the lads (team spirit and all that)

Just opinion here but -
Would rather Willian than Lamela.
Proven class and a more natural no10 when needed. Given price likely to be the same..

As for Lennon, I for one would be gutted to see him leave. Gutted. Ok he can have some off days but he is like no-one else in the league. On his day unplayable and we'd lose a real threat without him in the side.
Wide players should all offer something different for the oppo to worry about. With Chadli, Azza, Bale? Townsend etc we've got huge options
Why do we need a no10? We have Chadli plus we needn goals from wide and im pretty sure Lamela would score more than Willian! Just my onion

I think it is the lack of creativity. Bale and Chadli are both going to score goals from wider positions. Lamela can come in and do the same but in essentially the same role as Bale (although we'd easily find space for both if they are both on the books). Chadli can also play as a striker and may progress to being better in that role. But we don't really have a player who is above all creative, who can slide through a pass or has the vision to quickly find an outlet. We may simply overpower teams, we probably will on many occassions, but it is always useful to have an option that is a little bit different.

Great post
Exactly my thinking. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the additions but I do think we may still struggle to unlock very solid defensive teams if the pace isn't working.
Mata, Silva, Kagawa and dare I say it even continho have that ability. It's the one thing we are missing. At the moment.
By the way, Holtby could grow in to it. Maybe a season away though

We are still getting linked with Eriksen and Pjanic so maybe that is being addressed as well?

Bit concerned at SNN saying we are after Ince and will then send Townsend to QPR. That makes no sense to me. Townsend has impressed at QPR and in pre-season.

I think Holtby could develop into our "creative" midfield with his energy and penchant for throughballs.

Really excited to see him step up this year.

With the engine we now have in midfield he may get licence to concentrate more on the creative side. With Soldado's movement he could fit very well into our system. Certainly a better fit than Siggy IMO.

Agreed, however I think Townsend expects to start every week for us now and that simply won't happen. It may be that AVB has no choice but to move him as he wants regular football whereas Ince would be a similar option/good replacement that will accept his position on the bench for now.

Just a thought

Agree, but it seems that his favoured position is a bit deeper and he'd be more comfortable playing in the central 3 than in a more advanced position.
