I think Grealish will be a much better signing than a lot of people are giving him credit for.

Poch is a master with talents like this. Give it a season or two, and he'll be an invaluable member of the squad/first team and be worth £50-60m+

Hope he can hit the ground running, because I can only see him making appearances in the cups and off the bench to start with.

Not every young player can be like Dele, or Sanchez. As it takes time for them to adapt to a new system and players, hope he stays focused and believes in his ability.

Many said the same about Alli. All depends how he trains and how hard he works.

Grealish has the ability to go as far as he wants with his career with the right guidance, and I would choose Poch over any other manager to get the best out of him. I’ll guarantee he’ll be an England starter within 1 year.

Extremely happy with this news. When watching the play off final, obviously all eyes were on Sessegnon, but Grealish really caught my eye. The standout performer for Villa by some margin, he's a real talent.

At present he is a 15-25 mill championship prospect. I feel very confident that when Poch has him for a year, we will be talking about trebling our investment & creating the piece of the Jigsaw that England were missing in Moscow.

Wow, I don’t know much about him at all but looking at the other England starters they are either consistent starters for their PL club or have been such in the recent past (e.g. Rose).

Does this mean the expectations on Grealish are to usurp one of Eriksen, Alli, Dier, Wanyama, Winks, or other transfers to become a regular CM/AM for us this season? That was not at all how I viewed this transfer, but again I don’t know much about him.

thanks Breeze, I'll wait and see- in the meantime I go like, agree and optimistic on your three points. You might also be right on the England front (England friendly caps are like confetti these days) come to think of it.

Was thinking the very same after doing my youtube scouting yesterday.

another waste of money signing imo. ok player but not the one to take us to the next level. same as sissoko, njie, nkd, lamela ( i like him but not 35m player of that time and age ), all that wasted money could have gotten us way better players had we rather pay more for 1.

happy to be proven wrong but i highly doubt it.

Why do so many people think just because A is happening means B, C, D and E can't happen now.

We've not heard that it's Grealish and not any big name.

And this transfer makes sense for more than just a gamble.

I could be wrong, but I highly doubt we are relying on Jack Grealish to take us to the next level. He's one of the Championship's best young prospects. We don't have the luxury of buying the finished article every year, so we need to take more educated gambles on potential.

That's why we've got Eriksen, Alli, and Trippier, to name just three.

Interesting how you picked players to suit your argument that have nothing in common with the one we're signing, and have ignored all the other similar cases :bored:

I love how every signing we make has to be a huge signing that takes us to the next level or it's awful and we've gotta moan about it. Who needs depth, right?

Until we show that we can compete for signing top tier players, his reaction is perfectly valid - if those are the players he wants us to sign.

I don’t agree entirely with his reaction, as I think Grealish could become a good player for us and the value at the top end of the market is proper iffy. However, I don’t share your optimism and can see his point - the past few years has shown that we’re not going for those top players as we can’t compete financially.

I personally disagree with him in the sense that I think we can be a bit clever by taking a risk on younger players, like Grealish, and still improve the team. In fact, those are the players I’d prefer us to buy now that the squad has been together for a few years and is peaking.

However, it is fair to point out that people who think we’re spending something like £60-£80m on a player are living in cloud cuckoo land IMO. In fact, I’m not even sure what sort of player that gets you anymore, the market is so screwed.

I guess ultimately I just don’t really like it when people who are underwhelmed by a transfer get so heavily jumped on. It feeds a cult-like behaviour on here where there’s no proper debate.
