My biggest gripe is the club hiking the ticket prices and then *currently* not giving us much extra for it. I like the signings we’ve made but on paper nobody’s looking at them and going it looks like Spurs are really trying to have a go this year. Arguably the best business we’ve done so far this summer has been the bare minimum that was required in shifting deadwoodThe absolute state of some of the posts in this thread
Just chill out!!!! I actually think the new recruitment team are doing a wonderful job. And yes, it would have been lovely to have all our business done already but it rarely happens like that for pretty much every team. I still think we will bring in a couple of very good players, I've seen/heard nothing to dispell those feelings.
Let's just wait and see before we see all the boring posts which fill this forum every transfer window with the predictable comments.

There are so many right wingers who would add quality to our squad, this would be a huge failure by the club and recruitment team to not get one over the line, January would be even harder to sign one. I hope this is wrong otherwise we leave yet another manager with their hands tied asking them to work miracles and we won't improve to where we need and want to be. Very concerning update tbh.Prof:
Still trying for a winger but getting one of the top few names on our list has proven to be more difficult than anticipated. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, if there isn't a breakthrough in negotiations with one of the two players we believe are significant upgrades, we'll be faced with the decision of either spending significant money on a player who may be somewhere between 0 and 10% better than what we have, or keeping our financial powder dry until January in the hope that someone higher up the list shakes loose.
Not in recent years we haven't though which gives me faith. I think the issue is that it's also just as tough to pry top players away this late in the summer window as it is in January. I think we are going to go into the season hoping some youngsters step up. I just hope we still get 1 or 2 more experienced players in this window. We’ve also made plenty of terrible decisions in January too over the years. My point is more that you are completely on a wing and a prayer that someone wants to get rid of a good player mid way through the season.

Maybe the list that we as fans have concocted doesn't match with Ange's, or maybe he's looking at a slightly different profile. Who knows, but as has been said, still a couple of weeks to go, and probably worth holding off on the over-reactions (not looking at you @fishhhandaricecake) til then. There are so many right wingers who would add quality to our squad, this would be a huge failure by the club and recruitment team to not get one over the line, January would be even harder to sign one. As is the case in 99% of our widows.Hmm. After a lot of early confidence in getting our targets in this window it feels like expectations are being managed now.
In defence of our transfer dealings we have got players in after the season has started in the last 3-4 transfer windows - significant first team players at that too. Obviously everyone wants players in asap but looking across the league very few players have moved and a lot will happen between now and the end of the season. I might eat my words, but the business not being done now doesn’t mean it won’t get done before the deadline. As is the case in 99% of our widows.
said last week it’s looking grim, and we desperately need this winger. We’re now 4 days off our first game, and we still haven’t got them in.
But will still hear “window isn’t over” wait until then.
then when we still haven’t addressed it and we’re short when the windows closed it’ll be “ we will try again on Jan” it’s the same old rinse and repeat situation as always.
Bergvall looks mustard yes I agree, gray is untested in prem but looks promising but I can’t get on board with the “great signings comment. We’ve signed one with good potential in gray ( can’t say how much game time he’ll get ) and imo a very average forward who has 29 goals in 140 prem appearances. 19 of those last season.Yeah if you just choose to ignore the great signings we have made so far (especially if you include Bergvall). Get a grip.
This is when we should have knew it was a lost cause, he’s fucker us before. Plus we’ve had solid itk from WLB to say we dragged our feet on him.Genuinely amazed this got 17 positive reviews. You think signing Neto (as an example) was only difficult because we made it difficult? Signing a Mendes client who 4 of the top 6 are interested in should be a piece of piss should it?
On the broader question of glaring holes, there are no glaring holes in the squad. We have cover in every position. Striker was the key position we needed to buy this summer and we've done that. Waiting for the right winger makes sense. And I think most people are doing Brennan Johnson a massive disservice. Ange signed him last summer, and played pretty much whenever available last season and he has so much more potential to fulfill.
Can only fill one at a time yeah.Except for LCB/LB, Davies can only fill 1 spot.
I know lots of fans have decided that this is the type of player we need, and I also would love one. But I think Ange sees the ball retention part of the equation as being solved in large part by the signing of Solanke. And it's also clear that Ange saw the priority in our attack as needing to add another 9. Those four wing options, plus Moore are pretty good, and much better than what we started last season with, which was Son, Solomon, Perisic, Kulusevski. To think we were confident of Eze + Neto not so long ago
We'll never learn, it's the hope that kills you.
Posted this earlier this week, but the fact is, the season starts tomorrow and we haven’t signed a winger. Nobody would have accepted that after the final game in May.
Our winger options are...Johnson & Kulusevski, and Son & Werner. Wasn't good enough last year, won't be this year.
Hope that ITK isn't true, cos we badly, badly need at least one pacy winger who can retain the ball, beat men, score, and assist to a relatively high level.
Let's keep the faith, for now
