Still over two weeks left of the window, which in football is an age, and I can think of plenty of wingers (not going to make them here) that would add something different to our front line and that are currently available. Personally I think WLB’s disagree says a lot.

Very true, there are a lot of wingers out there that could strengthen us. I believe it has more to do with the - recurring - narrative of 'we tried' that pessimism is now growing on our chances we'd land a winger after all. Got to remain positive, but that latest ITK of Prof doesn't sound positive...

Edit: after reading through the thread on there I wouldn’t start shitting your pants lads, there’s quite a bit of context missing and it’s not really clear how itk that comment is or how much of it is opinion. I’d hold your horses before getting too excited.

Which glaring holes haven't been addressed ?

We have 2 young wingers coming in / through. More depth in midfield, and another premier league quality up front.

Yes the ITK is a bit disappointing but where would you have spent more money ? Maybe another winger or a creative midfielder, but I'd hardly call them glaring holes.

Completely agree. For me the biggest question mark over the Prof ITK is the idea that we could only identify 2 wingers we thought would be a strong upgrade on current options. That’s just not how teams in our position should work as we know how difficult deals are to get over the line. I trust WLB’s view that we have more options, especially as we got a HG CF in solanke

Genuinely amazed this got 17 positive reviews. You think signing Neto (as an example) was only difficult because we made it difficult? Signing a Mendes client who 4 of the top 6 are interested in should be a piece of piss should it?

Think the last few windows we've actually done pretty well. Think an awful lot of fans just have wildly unrealistic expectations.

We’ve signed just 1 first team ready player this summer, that’s nowhere near good enough.
We have European football added this season too.

Ange clearly identified the forward line as our biggest weakness and even called for an ‘overhaul’ in attack.
We have to ‘win’ every deal we negotiate, that’s why things get difficult.

Saying it’s unrealistic to expect more than 1 first team ready signing is ridiculous.

It's as if we haven't, over very many transfer windows, told people that Levy and all that isn't for this thread.

Literally 100's, many hundreds of times. Then, if we get pissed off with saying it and people lose their access, we get PM's saying 'what did I do" or "All I did was"

I'm half convinced SC is populated by scousers because it's never their fault either.

It's only in your opinion that we have signed 1 first team ready player though. Perhaps in other peoples minds that is not the case, and perhaps one of those people is the manager ? Maybe he's seen enough in pre season to alter his initial thinking ? Just a counter argument.

I think a high quality/elite right winger that is confident in beating his man 1v1 is a must. For me personally it is a big hole in the first team and was vital to address this summer.

However with 2 weeks left and plenty of quality in that position available on the market I'm hopeful we are still able to do something there.

Forget blaming Levy in this we've seemingly got budget available and have failed to tempt or secure a winger better than what we've got. That seems more like negligence in the new recruiting set up than anything else.

We need to learn to shit or get off the pot quicker. We fucked around on Eze and Neto for too long and needed to move on quicker.

No and that wasn’t the point I was making (in fact my post immediately above the one you replied to makes clear I think we are still in for a winger).

The ITK you were responding to said ‘getting one of the top few names on our list was more difficult than expected’ and we know Neto was no 1. Having 2-3 names that all proved hard is completely plausible - Neto as already discussed, Nico Williams was probably on that list then was brilliant at the euros etc.

There are still 2 weeks to go and WLB has indicated the Prof ITK may well be wrong. Stop spiralling and see what actually happens before you decide it’s a shit window

I agree we want someone that can beat his man. And maybe as the ITK says we could bring someone in, but Johnson isn't as woeful option as some seem to make our, and with someone able to actually finish the chances maybe that won't be as big a miss.

Just chill out!!!! I actually think the new recruitment team are doing a wonderful job. And yes, it would have been lovely to have all our business done already but it rarely happens like that for pretty much every team. I still think we will bring in a couple of very good players, I've seen/heard nothing to dispell those feelings.

Let's just wait and see before we see all the boring posts which fill this forum every transfer window with the predictable comments.
