My money is on the latter. Just feels like will take too longProf:
Still trying for a winger but getting one of the top few names on our list has proven to be more difficult than anticipated. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, if there isn't a breakthrough in negotiations with one of the two players we believe are significant upgrades, we'll be faced with the decision of either spending significant money on a player who may be somewhere between 0 and 10% better than what we have, or keeping our financial powder dry until January in the hope that someone higher up the list shakes loose.
Oh. That's not as positive as I'd have liked. No point spending big on a limited improvement. Shame. The winger was the most important piece of the puzzle. Not getting Neto in will really hurtProf:

I'm hoping @What Lies Beneath's disagree here is because this isn't correct.Prof:

Just saw the same. Amazing how a little red cross on an internet forum can give you hope....I'm hoping @What Lies Beneath's disagree here is because this isn't correct.
Otherwise sounds like some of the same old problems, which is what the current situation does feel like.
It’s only difficult because we make it difficultProf:

Ruh roh. I do tend to agree with the thinking that it's better to hold off for someone who is going to substantially improve the team, but at the same token, it's an indictment of our failures to get that /those player(s) in who can improve us.Prof:
