Be a very good signing. We have let alot of experience go so getting in a very experienced player who has won a major league would be good business

Part of me wonders why no one else has come in for him this summer considering Arsenal, Newcastle and United have all been after CB's. Is it just that he isn't starting quality?

I have wondered this also. Utd were linked but have dropped out. Then there are the predictable saudi links. I wonder if his demands are high in terms of wages with him being a free.

Also i know he is a cb/lb cover which is what we need, but i dont know much about his style? Does he have pace for a high line and can he play the inverted role?

Hermoso on a free makes so much sense that I'm surprised we're going for him. I'm also surprised he hasn't been picked up by anyone sooner.

He must be decent to start 175 games over 5 seasons for Atlético I suppose. I wonder how long a contract he would be offered considering he's 29? I guess it makes sense as Udogie is so good that whichever player we sign as a backup probably won't displace him in the next 4 years anyway...

Ah he also plays centre back! That makes a lot of sense!

Agree with this. Quite a few times last season Hoijberg came on and steadied the ship when it was rocking a bit and it has worried me a little bit we don’t really have anybody like that to do that anymore. We got a younger squad too with the arrivals last of Bergvall, Gray and hopefully the integration of the likes of Moore, Donely and Lankshear.

Seems like an upgrade on dear Ben but I wonder if not United will offer him ridiculous wages so we lose out.

United already decided not to sign him. I think they had other irons in the fire and possibly his age counted against it given they have this 'new' ethos. Who knows.

Never heard of him until today but seems sensible business provided he can beat Lenglet in a foot race

OK you now have a thread for this player. Now flutter over there my little butterflies and treat everyone to your pearls of wisdom (Or malteser sized nuggets of shit) over there.

Fly little butterflies, fly!

Prof:

Still trying for a winger but getting one of the top few names on our list has proven to be more difficult than anticipated. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, if there isn't a breakthrough in negotiations with one of the two players we believe are significant upgrades, we'll be faced with the decision of either spending significant money on a player who may be somewhere between 0 and 10% better than what we have, or keeping our financial powder dry until January in the hope that someone higher up the list shakes loose.
