Yeah not sure if playing hard ball with Levy is a sensible approach.

Is it just me or is Wayne Rooney's agent not very good at negotiating! That whole 'I want to leave Man Utd' thing last season was a PR disaster and although it did earn Rooney an improved contract, I dont think the Agent's handling of it was particularly good, especially with SAF who took complete control of it with the media.

Misjudgement from Harry on that one I think.

also explains why he was so angry with speculation on the internet!

Normally when people get annoyed and can't help showing it - its because you've touched a nerve.

Well one thing the papers seem to agree on is that there will be a meeting on wednesday between Levy and Harry.

So get ready for tomorrow - think twitter and ITK will go into overdrive

That's his job, mission accomplished. Some of the most successful agents are almost certainly the most abrasive.

For what it's worth, JJ rated my post funny when I speculated that Paul Stretford was playing games.

The more I think about it, the more I just can't see how the existing friction between the two wouldn't affect next season in some shape or form.

Its got that air of becoming quickly untenable unless there is a serious softening of stance from one of them, if not both.

Except it seems to me this agent has one method of attack, when facing down someone like Levy, the abrasive method is not going to earn you an improved contract. Harry needed to hire a pragmatist, not some abrasive douchebag who thinks the 'pay me or i walk' method works for everything.

I think that sounds quite plausible. The "Redknapp is off stuff" could have been perpetrated by either side to stir things up for their own ends. I believe possibly Redknapp's team as people like Ryan are getting wind of it. Same with the qatar & Chelsea stuff. Trying to turn the screw on Levy. Redknapp's team go in demanding 4 years knowing they'll ake 3 or even two at a push.

Either way, this really isn't a great situation is it.

I don't think Levy ever intended to sack Redknapp, but Redknapp continual divisive and entirely self absorbed "conduct everything by media proxy" approach, including now his contract negotiation, must be a real headfuck.

On the contrary , his is one I the best. Has earned himself and Rooney a total fortune. You say it wasn't handled well but how many England and man u fans still scream his name at the drop of a hat.

Yeah I think if you actually read the espn quotes , Harry is quite explicit he would never resign.

For me this could be his long game in the whole saga becoming "I was forced out" rather than they didn't bow to my demands

The difference being that United felt Rooney was irreplaceable and so he could go in, be a giant douche and get Rooney a whopping new contract. Especially as there are suitors for Rooney who would pay him that cash. However with Harry, Levy does not consider him irreplaceable, he's not going to care about the suitors he has and whether they'll give Harry what he wants or not. If Harry threatens to quit, I can see Levy calling his bluff almost instantly as it would be the best solution at the moment.

I don't want to continue this too far because it's the ITK Thread and the ban stick threatens, but maybe that's his strategy if a higher pay job in UAE/Chelsea awaits. He either gets a lucrative contract extension at Spurs or Levy spits the dummy and the Harry walks out looking like the good guy in the media's eyes as usual?

Possibly, he asks for the moon and if he doesn't get it, he walks out, his media pals do a job making us out to be the evil baddies who wouldn't give the messiah what he wanted and Harry looks squeaky clean.

I'd take that right now though, I'd rather have a new guy at the helm than have to worry about whether our manager is going to mail it in because he's an egotistical, self-serving media whore who would rather look good than do what's best for our club.

Evening all!

Just got in from a lovely evening at the theatre with the Mrs, which I guess gives me the right to make her sit through both games tomorrow. Marvellous! :)

Anyway what in God's name has happened here tonight?! From what I can tell Ryan has passed on some info which has sent all the ITKs, ITKers and even Redknapp himself into a frenzy! And it wasn't even true?!?

That is awesome. Truly awesome. Well played sir :)

Anyway, so this meeting is now happening tomorrow? Also, isn't Redknapp at the Euros with the BBC?
