Because their Chairman said so!

I'll ask this once more then. Did their Chairman specifically say they were bidding for a midfielder from Spurs or did he just suggest they were bidding for a midfielder? Why do you therefore assume it is from us? Can they not also bid for someone else at the same time? Maybe.

The other comment was about your little spat earlier with another poster - a joke, but obviously it didn't register as one. Obviously my attempt at a bit of humour was not welcomed. (y)

Yet some people completely dismiss Rose's good pre-season performances. The problem with Mason is that he wont count as a U21 player anymore and we really have to think if he's worth a place in the 25-man squad or not.

May well be happier with a small amount of game time than the more established players we have for his position though so could be valuable. Anybody thinking we'll keep 5 international cm's happy is being naive imo

Well the Palace Chairman was on SSN earlier saying they were bidding for an unnamed PL midfielder tonight!

They've been linked with Holtby before...not that I could see us selling him or him wanting to go to Palace!

What - do you mean this one? The unnamed midfield player? Did he name Spurs? Honest question. Or is 2+2=5

Edit - also see page 9 and my reply.

Its fine mate, just saying that my original post, having watched the interview, A&C quoted....saying people will read this but they still continue to guess the likes of Dawson.

Bit of a strong clue that it could well be a midfielder from us.

For purposes of clarity, he didn't say a Spurs midfielder...I'm just using common sense, bit of a coincidence etc.

Carroll isn't big or tough enough for Pullis team IMO.
Agreed. He is also not old enough. CP's do have a few young players, but their main focus is on older, more experienced players, with 11 over 30. Which makes sense, their task is to avoid relegation for a 2nd year in a row. What you need is not young kids who spent last season in the championship - to mixed reviews.

I've since been informed (and maybe mr lesbiator can confirm), that the Palace chairman also said they were looking to sign this and maybe one other player. Yes, the Goat's info could be anyone, it could even be that an enquiry was made and nothing came of it, guessing is a waste of time because you could make a case for literally anyone to fit. What we know there is, has been or was interest in one of our players and unless they sign one, or an ITK coughs up the name, its likely to remain that way.

The ITK clearly states that Palace are sniffing around, not that they have bid for a player.

So if the Palace chairman has said they've bid for a midfield player, sadly there's no reason to believe it's one of ours.

I wonder if they might break the bank and try for Dembele?

They matched Swansea's £10m for Siggy, so can seemingly stretch to 8 digits.

Fits the profile well enough - big, powerful, oldish, EPL experienced, but damaged goods (injury issues and 18 months off form).

Their Chairman said a Premier League midfielder. That was it, no other info (apart from the chat about Zaha, which was a separate conversation)

Sorry Hoopspur...I was wrong.

He refused to name the transfer target, a Premier League midfielder, but did admit the club had been given permission to discuss personal terms with the player, who is expected to arrive in south London this week for a medical.

Palace will table a bid for another player in the next few days as they attempt to strengthen Tony Pulis’ squad.

“Hopefully we have got another one nearly done today,” said Parish. “That should be in the public domain tomorrow or the day after.

“We’ve got a bid going in on another player in the next day or so. We’re confident we’ll be more or less where we want to be by kick-off time, maybe a little bit behind, but by the time the window closes… exactly what we want to achieve.”

When asked about the mystery midfielder, Parish added: “We have a bid in for a player tonight.

“We’ve had permission to talk to the player. We are very close to personals with the player. Hopefully he will be down for a medical tomorrow and with any luck we’ll get him in the squad for Saturday.

The first bolded part suggests to me that one more player and that's it. the second part (He will be down) suggests that he (the current one) isn't a Spurs player at all but a player from a more northerly location.

Said it'll be in the public domain "today or tomorrow." A quick look at media links shows Zaha on a 2m loan move. Makes sense. I think we can comfortably state that those midfielder comments are in regards to Zaha.

I think our whole squad, from defense to attack, has players that would interest them that we would sell, so it's incredibly difficult to pinpoint one without more information at this time.
