I got word earlier in the summer that Edouard was being offered to clubs in Germany. The reply from the agent was that they already had something lined up - believed to be in England - however every noise coming from the player and out of the club had been that he was staying and so I dismissed the info. However, on reflection, Celtic have spent a lot of money this summer. I've always assumed it was because they were desperate to win 10 in a row - but perhaps it is because they are suddenly going to be a lot more cash rich than they have been (they do have money, but they will sell for the right price especially following their Champions League exit). Interestingly Edouard has been out of the team of late but he played for France Under-21s during the international week despite Lennon saying he had a thigh injury. Yesterday, I read some strange quotes from Lennon talking about Edouard's strike rate and how happy he is with him as a player. There is unrest in the dressing room so maybe he was buttering him up especially since one of his French allies, Ntcham, is looking out. The Champions League exit for Celtic almost always comes at a cost for the club, not to mention Edouard has been at Parkhead for three and a half years - this is usually the time for an ambitious player at Celtic to move. Anyway, I've made an enquiry.

EDIT: We (Spurs) have asked about him before.

Apparently they had interest in Parrott and wanted to loan him in June?

Crikey potential for Bale and Edouard... Not building my hopes up too much because they'll both presumably be very difficult deals to do, but that would be a 10/10 window with all the other business we've done. Please bald overlord, make us happy!

I think one of the ITKs (I think Rebrab or Trix) said that because of how we do business a deal is usually agreed in principle and the selling club often bring their replacements in first. We don't blow them out of the water in order to get it done early. I guess something like Edouard could fall into that remit.

Win the player/agent over, approach Celtic with our price. Celtic then know their baseline fee and use that to make some signings. Meanwhile Celtic try to encourage a bidding war by offering him around.

The deal then drags because Celtic are still hoping someone with bigger pockets comes along that will start a bidding war with us (e.g. Man Utd). Unlike Watkins, Edouard's agent is probably turning down the likes of Villa right now in favour of us. Sounds like the way we would conduct our business.

Hope it’s Edouard, ceiling is ridiculously high and is wasted at Celtic - would explain why my suggestion was deleted from the thread earlier this week too...

Levy is working on a deal to bring Bale back to the club. Personally don’t see it happening but we are trying.
Thanks for the info, and by the way this isn’t me questioning you for one second, it’s me thinking out aloud! Appreciate all info...
No one more than Levy knows how intricate deals are, most footie fans seem to think it’s like FM or something! Anyway, if it’s that unlikely why would he press ahead, Mou and Levy must really want him for him to press so hard for a complicated and protracted process that may not even work. We shall all see I guess!

thanks for all the info ?

Thanks for the info, chaps.
Bale will be a deadline day deal if it were to happen, will be dragged out to the very end.
