Bernal is one of those (I hate the phrase, but) generational talents and it makes sense to build the team around him, but leaving Thomas out as well is a surprise to me.

Thomas had a chance to show a bit of form last week and didn't. With the calendar like it is the choices made will be different from what it would normally be.

Froomes new team might be looking for the receipt.

A bit surprising but at the same time Bernal has a greater chance of claiming the yellow jersey imho. So it's all about maximizing the team's chances of success.

I see Thomas will be Giro captain and Froome Vuelta captain from the INEOS statement.

It's making more sense.

Not really. Froome has already agreed to sign up with Team Israel Cycling Acadamy.

He was never going to lead (or even ride) in The Tour for Ineos.
If he'd have shown real form in the warm ups and Egal hadn't.. then he would be in the tour. Reality is the injury has taken it all away from Froome, who knows if he'll ever be back to where he was.

Brailsford is brutal, he'll put whoever he thinks will win in the team, no sentimentality or worries about where people will be next year.. just who will win

Agree. Ineos are weeker for it. I would doubt they (Ineos) would even podium at this years tour. Jumbo Visma and Quikstep are a long way ahead of them in my opinion.

Jumbo yes, nearly filling the top places on current form although they have just lost one of those. I can't see where Quickstep are though.

Prudhomme's tested positive for Corona. All cyclists in the clear so far but for the head of ASO, who had the French PM in his car only a few days ago, to test positive is pretty bad news.

The first test in a while that most cyclists aren't trying to cheat? :cautious: :)

If you've not seen the TT from today then avoid the result and watch the highlights.
In fact, if you love epic sport then watch it!

That was something else. Well done to the Slovenian!
it was absolutely astonishing, not only to think that he had lost a minute and a half to roglic in the crosswinds but to overcome that without anywhere near the team roglic had makes it my favourite tour de france win for a long long time

Special talent, and an incredible result for UAE Team Emirates. Roglic had done nothing wrong for nearly 3 weeks and then lost his legs on a cat 1 and it's all over. You have to feel for him, it's absolutely brutal.

Prediction: Sepp Kuss to win a GT by end 2022. Massively impressed by him.

Amazing stuff. If there isn’t a jug of pure unadulterated child’s piss knocking about on that Sunweb bus I’ll be very pleasantly surprised :woot:

?! Sam Bennett, stepping out from Sagan’s shadow.

?! Richie Porte, the unluckiest man in cycling finally got his just rewards.

Good tour, and one of the best things about having to work from home is that I got to watch pretty much every damn minute of it. Bring on the Giro!

Yes, good to see an actual all out sprinter win the 'sprinters' jersey despite what sagan achieved being amazing, Aslo phenomenal to see Pog climb up to receive his jerseys, is that the first time someones won those particular 3?
