Apparently Archer diverted on his journey north from Southampton to call in on his home in Brighton.

Presumably to see if his eyesight was okay for a drive to Manchester.

Can't see any problem with that!

Curran and Woakes have apparently had a warm-up bowl and marked their run-ups. Would make sense, and we bat a lot further down if they're the 2 replacements!

Edit: WIndies win toss and will bowl. No changes. Curran and Woakes in for England.

Bat for 150 overs. Bore the shit out of us, themselves and the Windies and at the same time making them bowl themselves into the ground

90% guarantees a win, squares the series and gives the Windies no chance of recovering with another back to back test to come

If Jose did cricket tactics.....

when will our batting actually improve? is there a batting coach? is there anyone actually trying to improve these players?

nice work from Sibley and Stokes.

thing is, as an England fan, you’re always waiting to lose 3 quick wickets, so never too confident!

Very well played Sibley and Stokes. Exactly what England needs. A base of 207-3 is precisely what this specific team needs, with some explosive - or let's say non-defensive - batters down the order capable of adding quick runs without the pressure of being in a dodgy situation if they fail. They should be targeting 450 - 500 tomorrow, preferably allowing an hour at the Windies before the close. (Kiss of death.)

Well done to Sibley and Stokes. I really like the look of our top 6. Archer has been a muppet but people with more authority have done worse. Let’s hope he learns a lesson. Can’t believe Butler has once again kept the gloves when Foakes is a better keeper (is there a better glove man out there right now), batsman, and crucially more suited to marshalling the tailenders to build a score!

it looks like a well balanced top 6 right now. Pope could be the next Ian Bell, Stokes can play so many types of innings to suit the situation, and Sibley and Burns have made a promising start.

I think Buttler will get this match, possibly the next, otherwise he’ll be in trouble.

The Buttler debate is an odd one because in white ball cricket there are few better players in world cricket and he’s been a stand out player for years now and one of my favourite cricketers

Problem is he never was and never will be a Test player as long as I’ve got a hole in my ass. Has been given about 35 chances too many imo

Play your best keeper in Test cricket. They are still hoping Buttler can be our Gilchrist

Move on ffs and play Foakes. Poor bloke needs some love. Could be the real deal for us

If Buttler comes in when we're 320-5 you would see a different player, problem is with his lack of success/confidence when he's usually coming in at 80-5 he cant play his natural game. I'm not a fan of Jos the keeper but will defend him to an extent. At the moment though, we either need a player coming in at 7 who can guts it out for a bit or someone who can come in and get a run-a-ball 100. At the moment, and pretty much for a lot of the time since his return, he hasn't been either of those players.

And I'm prepared for the repercussions on this but genuinely there is no better gloveman in WORLD cricket than Foakes.
