Can anyone justify the removal of top players from the County scene
where they learn the trade and practice their skill daily in the season
and the change to Central Contracts.
Don't see it myself.
As well as the severe loss to the Counties of their best players it seems counter productive to me.

Got pissed off with the rain delays today. Add to this the quick wickets dropping early doors, and all in all, a bit of a crap day's viewing.

I wish we would drop Moeen Ali, he’s been woeful in all forms of the game for too long to remember.

he’s just imploded in the IPL - I think Virat might swing for him ?

Yep saw that. Both his batting and bowling have gone to pot. Considering how many exciting T20 and 1 day players we’ve have it’s shocking that he keeps getting selected. Look at David Willey, disgracefully dropped from the World Cup squad despite being a threat with both the bat and ball. Comes back in for Ireland (yes I know they’re crap) but plays excellently only to get dropped again. Whereas Ali gets smashed all over the place and must be on for a record of ducks keeps getting picked :s.

Morgan is taking loyalty to the limits in Moeen's case, but Willey isn't a replacement spinner.

I know he isn’t a spinner but we already have one in Rashid. There’s no point playing a part timer spinner in Ali when he gets smashed all over the place. In the One Day game Root is a competent 2nd spinner.

agreed his form has completely dropped away, and to carry on picking him is pushing it. I get that they like two spinners, but there’s a few out there who should probably get a chance now, not least Liam Dawson who hasn’t really let England down when played, and should be given a decent run rather than the odd game here and there. Ali’s batting has been non existent for a long time, so it’s not like we’ll miss it, olus Dawson can bat. Root could also bowl more for the ODI team, not that I think you could consistenly get an innings of 10 decent overs out of him, but him and Dawson/another spinner could definitely bowl 10 between them. as long as it’s not Denly ?.
