Cummins face concerns me.

It's the face of a man who's been strangling prostitutes undetected for a few years.
I work with a few people like that in my new organisation - God only knows what they would find after excavating their patios!

One of the few bright spots of this series has been Jack Leach trolling the Aussie bowlers at number 10, both by his stickability and persona - steam coming out of the ears of some of them!. He has the survival instincts of a cockroach!

Good effort from Buttler. Actually looked better with the bat, the last couple of tests. Blown chance again today though. Were given enough chances to get a big score, but too many just ain't up to it.

Here’s another one...

Since Buttler returned to the test side last year only one batsman has faced more balls and scored more runs than him for England. Joe Root.

Nobody has a higher batting average or has scored more fifties than Buttler in this period.

Mental.

The ashes debate with mark Butcher was good thought he made a lot of sense regarding selection in the future

It would be ironic if a white ball bish bash bosher saves us in a Test Match.
Won't know just yet if this was as silly a decision by Paine
as it was looking this morning.

Wow, maybe I’ve been a tad on the harsh side with him in that case, I would have expected Stokes to have been a country mile ahead of everyone!
Certainly adds more fuel to the keeping debate with JB as well to free up yet another top order slot.
Pretty damning indictment of our batting though when you consider how Root’s average has fallen off a cliff in the last year...
Think the Aussies will go medieval tomorrow and post near to 400, Smith to finish on about 140.

What did he say in a nutshell for those who didn’t see it,

Basically saying batters should be batting in the right positions and pick players that have/can bat in the top order rather than throwing together an unbalanced team

Cheers for that - hopefully, after this series the penny might finally drop with our chaotic management team

Time for the bowlers to get two or three wickets and then struggle. My guess is that we’ll be batting again roughly an hour before the close tomorrow, game over sometime between lunch and tea on Sunday.

Paine vindicated but why exactly did he put England in?
Pitch, weather, England's likely collapse, any theories
Got inclusion of Mitchell right.
Just a lucky boy?

I think you covered it. Oval is generally a batsmen's paradise unless you are the current England top order. Bot of green on the pitch and weather set fair for the weekend - seemed like a good decision by Paine to me, but I am sure he got other opinions.

wow! - Warner is currently performing far worse than our top 3, which really takes some doing!

I know it's much more interesting when the bowlers are on top
but on a 'batting Paradise' this is ridiculous
