He's just a bish bash bosh merchant. Doesn't have the correct technique for test cricket. I doubt he'll last more than a couple of series.
Have to call you out on that one. Yes he isn’t a traditional test opener of yester-year but he has a very solid technique. His style is very much a product of modern day cricket, he has been brought up on (some may argue too much) variations of the shorter form, namely T20’s. But he does have a solid 200 under his belt in Sydney grade cricket, along with back to back hundreds in the same match in shield. He swings for the rafters just like any number of test batsmen in the modern era, but to call him a bish bash bosh merchant is narrow.

the kid is 19 and has a lot to learn both cricketing and attitude wise…

Twenty years later here we are again with the government putting pressure on the ECB to basically forfeit a game.
Don’t recall this outrage when the football team had to play Iran….
If the taliban are as bad as reported and the treatment of women etc has reached new lows we shouldn’t be playing there

Gould & Thompson need to grow a pair, call it out and threaten to pull our teams out of the ICC unless they condemn Afghanistan and throw them out

You can’t legitimise these regimes

Totally agree but both Australia and SA need to as well in that case.
I’ve just been scouring the web to see if I can find out what the Aussie and SA take on it is and whether they are being told to boycott it as well but can’t find anything. @aussiespursguy is there much traction over there for your guys to boycott this game?

Given the increasingly closer ties between India and Afghanistan and the support the BCCI gives Afghan cricket there is a snowball's chance in Hell of the ICC throwing Afghanistan out.

Looks like a change of management hasn't helped England (well maybe helped Buttler, but no one else)!!

New regime but Jamie Overton?
Going in at seven as well, how is this possible and why did we go with four seamers on that pitch?

How does Overton get in this side, am I missing something?
I mean if your going on how many runs an over you get hit for, Archer shouldn't be near the side either! Like the women's team it needs an overhaul (albeit they need a new coach as well)! Wheeling the same players out and expect a different result is madness!

I just think he’s a bang average county player and if he’s seriously an international no 7 and bowler then we’ve got some serious problems!
