Yup

We want top 4 without paying for top 4 players

We're the 8th/9th richest team in the world and we don't act like it

It's increasingly infuriating

It's why when the renewal of Werner's loan was announced, I knew we weren't going to be serious. It was just so foretelling.

Yet the same people every window defend this MO, and plead for judgement to come after the window oloses.

Yet we go round and round discussing it until the cows come home every year.

Same movie.

The one constant is our MO.
Equally we’ve just let go of Ndombele and Lo Celso for a combined £5m after £100m invested. You see why they don’t fancy going all out on everyone Mr P!

I think discounting Solanke deal because it worked for us financially is harsh.

I get your frustrations. I think we just need to give it a bit more time. Good article by Dan Killy P a while ago about having the stomach for a full reboot, I’ve seen enough to give it that.

What I would say to your counter points, Mr Stoof, is that Ndombele and Lo Celso wern't proven in this league so the risk is definitely higher.

Eze, for example, most certainly is.

Ill use the phrase again...proven quality.

My frustrations arent with the manager, I just dont believe he's been backed enough for this season.

Maybe the plan is simply to build for the long term though and maybe the board are prepared for another up and down few seasons.

Yep, this has to change from now on given we’ve deepened the squad and reshaped a lot of it and spread the budget around, we now mostly just need top quality to drive us forward, if In Jan and next summer we mostly sign young prospects or not truly proven quality players then honestly aside from the whole stadium protesting against ENIC/Levy match after match, this cycle will never ever end.

I think that’s very much the plan. He’s said himself that you can’t do it all in one go. I do feel we could have done with one more. And that someone a bit more senior.

Twitter/X a dumpster fire. And I haven’t looked at the match thread yet. Assume it’s the same? I might give it a miss.

Yep this window will be ok IF the next 2 onwards the profile and quality of player changes / increases.

If it’s more of then same then we will never be serious and Ange and any other manager will never have a chance.

This is the deepest squad we’ve possibly ever had and it seems like the most aligned we’ve ever been behind the scenes aligning to a project and plan, that gives me some hope.

Let’s see how it plays out.

Next Jan and next summer we need to be signing Eze’s not Odoberts etc.

I'm sure those reduced "project" prices will be announced any minute now.

I agree. And we look well set up to do that now. We have actually cleared the deadwood.

Ange said, and I'll paraphrase, he "needs everyone within the club - the players, coaches, owners etc to 'buy in' to his way of thinking about how we are gonna play".

It doesn't sound from what he has said publicly that he is going to deviate from his on-field approach so we, as supporters, are gonna have to accept the approach or wait a few months / years until he leaves or is sacked.

Why we didn't get Eze, Neto or some other 'established' player I am not sure, but I am going to believe that there are valid reasons as naive as that may be.

Here for the painful rebuild and the ups and downs it brings!!

Sort of strange the joy with getting rid of players!
That’s not really what I meant. It’s more that we have no excuse of having to sell and clear wages. We’re literally set up to add straight away.

Yes the outgoings and kids set us up well

BUT what if the future never comes?

I am a little alarmed how some people have happily accepted this.

Especially those paying for season tickets etc.

It's not as simple to say we should just sign big players but we've spent a fair bit and still are seriously short now.

I don't understand how this can be acceptable.

We all sat here in April and stated we needed big changes in attack. Mostly better decision makers ans ruthlessness.

Solanke doesn't fill that IMO although is a solid PL striker

Odobert is still way off the top level.

Are we really resting everything on Moore?

A 17 year old?

Don't get me started on the left sided defender we failed to sign.
My champion post!

And more importantly, if we do have players to shift, Sarr, Biss or Bents even then they'll have some value, and I suspect a decent number of suitors.

It’s a never ending cycle mate, nothing will change whilst managers & players come & go.
Only consistent will be the fans & the same board.
Until the whole fanbase unites as one, there will always be this divide.

Well there's understandable frustration all round really.

Created a lot of promising attacking situations but a lack of quality when/where it counts cost us today.

We're just always going to give up a few massive chances to the opposition, so if we don't take ours....

The plan seems to be, at least partly anyway, to reduce the wage bill to increase our value to potential buyers/investors.

Lowest wages to income ratio, you’ll never sing that

I said on here when that was confirmed it was a show of our ambition and so it proved. I actually really like Ange and his style, couldn't ask for a better ambassador for the club. Pisses me off what they've handed him this year.

But we only bring in players that Ange wants, he even backed that up in the last pre match press conference on Newcastle and he clearly states this in his interview with Lineker last year. So is Ange a liar if many are claiming he is only doing what he is told by Levy eg Werner

Nail on the head.
How many players have turned us down because another club has offered them more money?
How many clubs have ‘accepted offers from another club because we’ve put in ten offers under what they want?
Until we start acting like a big club and paying salaries that are appealing to the marquee signings we would all like to see then we won’t get these players, which is ridiculous considering we are the eighth richest club in the world, we should be able to dine at the top table but we don’t and never will under DL.
I thought things were looking rosy under Donny P and then we had the new recruitment team come in but it just feels like we’ve gone backwards to go forwards again, except the forward never comes and apart from culling a few which we previously wouldn’t have done we haven’t added any experienced quality for ‘the now’.
