Really want to see Ashley Phillips in action. Ange will know if he's ready.

I’m a little confused by your answer. There are a number of reasons ( I cited a couple) to pick Philips over PEH. A primary one being he is a CB and PEH isn’t.
See, amidst all the chaos I’d forgotten that fact!

Agree with you, hopefully Phillips will get the nod, however if Davies is fit he might slot in there as he plays CB for Wales and is familiar in the role, we'll need pace though.
Davies for Wales plays as a wide CB in a 3 and also most of the time in a low block. It's like playing a completely different position how we play.

If Philips has pace, give him the shot. We need someone with recovery speed in the middle. We're not going to adjust the way we play. Unless Royal is thought of as a more experienced option but eh. We have a CB with some pace apparently, why overthink things. Phillips steps up or he doesn't. Only one way to find out.

I think Emerson will have to play LB unless Davies is fit.

Agree. With the way our new players/youngsters have come in and excelled under Ange it could be another blessing out of (on the face of it) a poor situation.

Also a chance for Veliz and Gil to get some real minutes.

Forgot Davies was injured. Yeah, it pretty much sorts itself out then. Rather that than shoehorning not particularly rapid CMs into defence.

Don't think Höjberg will feature in defence, so If Davies is out it'll be Porro - Dier - Phillips - Royal.

If Ben is fit options are (besides above) Porro - Dier - Phillips - Davies, Porro - Phillips - Davies - Royal, Porro - Dier - Davies - Royal.

Not an easy pick

Go with youth. The next 2 months are likely shot anyway. give it a shot and see what we have unless it’s so obvious he’s way out of his depth it will be detrimental to his development.

I expect every player who can play - will make themselves available to play for the gaffer.

It might mean we have to be careful during the week, but come game day, I expect everyone will want to be out there.
