Hugo, Walker, Toby, Jan, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Dele, Eriksen, Nkoudou, Kane

Harsh on Wanyama and could easily be a toss up between him and Dier

Throughout the season last year (bar the end), every time we lost we came back with a few wins in a row. Now the unbeaten stigma is over, I hope we click and go on a good run. We played excellent in the first half yesterday and if it wasn't Chelsea, we probably would've been 3 up at half time. If we can repeat that and play the way we can when we're good, I think we have a very winnable run of games coming up, bar Utd away, all the way through to Xmas. Swansea, Hull, Burnley etc, if we can't beat them we don't deserve top 4.

Hopefully Toby and lamela will be back Saturday and we'll start our run with a thumping win by at least 8 goals.

Lloris, Walker, Toby, Jan, Rose, Dier, Alli, Dembele, Lamela, Eriksen, Kane.

Eriksen needs a good game to get his confidence back up again and hopefully a defence like Swansea's can do that. Wanyama can have a nice rest & Dier can have a run out in midfield again. If Lamela isn't fit, I'd give Nkoudou a game. And maybe Winks for Dembele and save him for Utd.

Bench - Vorm, Winks, Janssen, Wanyama, Nkoudou, Wimmer, Trippier.

Mines quite different.

Lloris,
walker, toby, jan, rose
Wanyama, winks
Kevin, eriksen, lamela
Kane

Just wanted a balance between pace, energy, power and creativity. As well as ball retention.

I go high tempo, high press, and take it at them. Make sure to exit all of Europe so we can focus on the league and use our energy to support this new look formation where Dembele is our DM

It's about time we learnt to play at home without such a defensive midfield.

I'd go for this. Swap Lamela and N'Koudou round as they're comfortable on the other sides, but otherwise that's what I'd go for. It could easily be a 4-3-3 or a 4-1-4-1 with those players. Regardless, it's not so much about the formation but about the group of players and how they play together. That's a good balance.

A defensive mid is there to win the ball back and give it to the players that can play. Giving us more possession with the ball. A kore attacking player running after there players does not make us more attacking

Assuming all are fit, one suspects it must be:

Lloris - Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose - Wanyama, Dembele - Lamela, Alli, Eriksen - Kane

From that list, only the back four + Wanyama have covered themselves in glory over the past 3/4 months. Walker has improved significantly (mirroring the rise of Rose from last year) with Wanyama perhaps our best DCM signing in recent memory having exceeded many people's expectations. Hugo has made some quality saves to keep us in matches this season yet is not beyond criticism.

Demeble and Kane are clearly in need of minutes to get back to their lofty heights of last year. Moussa has shown his class at times already (Arsenal away in particular) whilst Harry was superb last night and has underlined his vital importance since his return.

Alli and Eriksen need a kick up the backside - the tendency would be to drop them but with our first choice back four and Kane nearing full match sharpness, it would be hasty to overlook two exceptionally talented players that are genuine goal threats when on form.

Lamela has been a sore loss for us. I know he frustrates but he creates chances, brings others in the game and crucial to our pressing style. Having tipped him to be our outstanding player this year, I still have high hopes that Erik will have a hugely positive impact upon his return.

You can only feel for Dier - a mixed Euro's, average start to this campaign (not helped by having to cover for Toby at CB), it is hard to justify inclusion in midfield ahead of Wanyama. Son has shown flashes of brilliance though I wonder whether he is better served as an impact player from the bench; equally with GKN whose cameo appearances have been promising. Winks in the meantime has shown a lot of maturity and ability when called upon - a good option.

Sadly, little is going right for Janssen. When he came on yesterday there was little expectation or even hope that he could nick a goal. HIs work-rate can only be admired but you feel for the guy. Wimmer has had a bad time of it playing in makeshift defences or out of position (Liverpool, Monaco and CFC away) BUT still think he can be called upon to deputise for Jan (of course, only if next to Toby). Neither Davies (though I think he could make a decent CB) or Trippier have shown they can be adequate cover for Rose/ Walker and have failed to step up when called upon. Sissoko has been frankly appalling...granted he is still adapting and the price tag is like an albatross around his neck, but currently we have seen exactly why Newcastle fans were rejoicing when they mugged us for the best part of 30m. If there was anything to say in his defence you could point out that he has had few minutes (if at all) in his favoured CM position but the pessimistic side of me is resigned to label him a total (and expensive) flop.

Of the rest, I would be thrilled for us to be in the Europa if only to give the likes of CCV, Onomah and Edwards some experience. The latter two in partivular could still make an impact in the long term and are hugely talented.

In essence, we have a cracking first 11 but, as we have seen over the past 6-8 weeks, have a lack of quality beyond this. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what part of our game requires the most improvement (putting the blooming ball in the net) - whether the January window can address this remains to be seen although, I guess we all know the likely outcome!

He adds fuck all going forward and it actually hinders our play. Dier is as good defensively and MUCH better going forward.
You think the same if Kante at Chelsea? He's not there to offer things in attack. He's been brilliant for us, the rest of the team have let him down
