Dier will play again and depends on who sits beside him - Harry W, GLC or Ndombele. This will be the core of the side this season and Jose will want to get this right as well as view his options. I can see VW coming back in the frame as well. Jose likes a stingy defence but MF is the key to his sides.

Win this game, we are through to the knock outs and take Bayern game a lot easier. This is better game to test out Ndombele or LoCelso for Mourinho.
My XI : 4-3-3

Gazzaniga
Aurier Foyth Toby Rose
LoCelso Ndombele,Dele
Lucas,Kane, Son

I think Dele shouldn’t play unless he’s in the exact role he played yesterday. That’s his best position so that’s where he’s should play. I wouldn’t go back to shoe horning him in to the side in a different role after yesterday.

Imo this will be his core team and there won’t be much rotation. Historically he’s had 8 or 9 players that play every game when he’s been successful. The main reason he failed at United is he never had a good enough core group like terry Lampard Drogba. He’s got that ready made at Spurs. With Kane Dele Dier Alderweireld Son.

Gazzaniga
Aurier Alderweireld Sanchez Davies
Dier Ndombele
Moura Dele Son
Kane

A few will be under spotlight Aurier Davies Dier Moura but if they step up will be hard to dislodge.

what is it with this " no place for Winks " thing for me he is a certain starter he seems to keep everything moving so to speak .
He stops the play being static and seems to me to be the oil that keeps the machine running smoothly .
But as I say we all see things differently

I don’t think we will see much rotation at all. He’s already said vertonghen won’t be back in time and it looks like Davies picked up a knock yesterday towards the end.

I suspect he will be caught between wanting to get qualification sown up and wanting to have a look at players but will errr towards qualification first. So I reckon it will be the same team with Rose in for Davies and that’s it.

JM likes big physically strong players. Always has.
Winks is great in games like yesterday where we have most of the ball but he's weak when some big lump from a top team comes steaming past him if he's asked to do that dm role.
With Dier next to him its not so bad and we'll certainly get away with it against Olympiakos but against better opposition or with Sissoko next to him its a disaster waiting to happen.
Maybe JM has changed his philosophy and there will be a place for him but I think most are basing their assessment on JMs previous, myself included.
Was surprised he started to be honest.
He's a good player, just is he JMs kind of player? I think not.

Same team v West Ham except for the following:
Vertonghen (if fit) in for Sanchez
Ndombele (if fit) in for Winks
Davies (if injured) out for Rose.

I like the way we set up in this game and the one thing that was obvious is he played with one full back instructed to get forward and one to stay back and create a back 3.

If Davies is unavailable I would play Foyth at RB and instruct Rose or Sess to get forward.

I would bring Ndombele on for Winks if fit.

The only other potential change would be GLC for Lucas as I want Gio to get game time and think being at home we may need to 'open up' Olympiakos rather than catch them on the break, however totally understand if he sticks with the four forwards who played last.

Gazza
Foyth, Sanchez, Toby, Rose/Sess
Dier, Ndombele
GLC/Lucas, Dele, Son
Kane

The team picks itself to an extent. Davies and Ndombele in for Rose and Winks if fit.

I want to see 433 just so that we can get Ndombele and Lo Celso in midfield without zero cover through the middle.

Gazza

Aurier Toby Sanchez Sessegnon

Lo Celso Dier/Skipp Ndombele

Dele Kane Son

That will be the team imo.
Would only have Rose in there because Davies is likely out

Play our strongest team then park the CL until Feb. Then I reckon we’re going back to the final. JM is going to work his magic and if we get there, we’ll win it. Bring on the rainbows.

if Verts and Davies not fit, i guess would have to be Rose. but would like to see Tanganga.

Would like to see Sess/Lo Celso involved too.
