^^^ Think this is the most likely, but would not be surprised to see us switch to a back 3/5 to protect the RB spot and have Sissoko or Gedson shuttling up and down that flank. I'd be very surprised to see Tanganga come straight in to start after effectively a 4 month break as most on here seem to be suggesting..

Obviously the news about Serge changes everything.
There are two obvious approaches to this change in personnel.
1. Keep the 442 formation which looked fairly effective.
Use Sissoko to play at RB, as he offers the greatest overlapping skillset of the remaining fit players in the squad. Tanganga may be fit for later games, but unlikely to be ready for 90mins straightaway. Shame foyth is also injured. We may even discover Sissoko is an awesome RB and save ourselves some money!
Slot Bergwijn or Gedson into the RM position.

2. Switch to 343, using our three best defenders but add some width on the left with Sessegnon. Allows us to stretch play using width, matches Newcastle’s formation and should, if nothing else, turn it into a match of individual battles (which I think we’d win)

In both, I’d rather see Ndombele than Winks but I can’t see it happening. I’d also hope that Skipp would get some game time, as would bergwijn (who would ideally replace Kane)

If Tangana isn't ready I expect Toby at RB and Verts slotting in beside Sanchez. Or Sissoko gets the gig.

I think that Sissoko would be a better fit, but just remembered that toby has played RB for Belgium

I'm seeing a lot of Tanganga in the line-ups... is he's back to full-speed and fitness after his injury? Jose had said previously he'd been trying out Skipp and Gedson as back-up in the RB role... perhaps given the love he's showing for Skipp he might give him the start at RB if as expected Aurier isn't with us (bless him and his family).

Given how serious the concerns over Tanganga's injury were, I'd be surprised to see him come in straightaway. Even if it's not deemed a risk by the medical team he still hasn't kicked a ball since March. I think we'll either flip the inverted fullback setup by playing a CB at RB and Sessegnon/Cirkin on the left, or we'll see one of Gedson, Sissoko, or Lucas start as the RB.

I also think we'll need rotation throughout the rest of the team. I'd like to see Skipp as the DM. I'd say Ndombele in place of Lo Celso (who looked shattered yesterday) but I would be shocked if Jose gave him a start.

Ask the back four to stay as a back four so no overlaps from the full backs which hopefully gives the two wingers space to run at the full backs everytime with freedom.

Asking both the fullbacks not to overlap is going to give the opposite in reducing the space for the wingers to operate in and will be marked out of the game.

Can happen but I'd almost play a 424.

I wouldnt say to the fullbacks dont Cross the half way line but support and let the winger do his thing. Pretty much how davies played yesterday.

Would normally play Son but no harm in having him on the bench. I'd like to see Ndombele in (wouldn't we all) and I think Winks could do with a rest. If Dele is fit play him 10 and rest GLC

If Tanganga is fit, if not maybe Toby with Verts at CB.

Could easily change to 433 with Lamela moving up with Kane and Son and Lo Celso in with Winks and Ndombele.

I worry about lack of attacking in midfield if Jose starts Winks and Skipp together. I would prefer to see Skipp but I'm guessing my lineup based on what I can see Jose doing and not what I prefer.
