Desperately need a result against Leicester so as much rotation as possible for this one please.

Definitely Moore & Lankshear up front to keep Son and Richy as fresh as possible for Sunday.

I know the injuries mean there is no easy answer and I get the idea of playing the kids on Thursday to give certain players a rest ahead of Leicester, but it's seriously risky to do that away from home in Europe. Worse teams than Hoffenheim have made life very difficult. Is it a good idea to risk another Galatasary like shambles with morale already on the floor? Also, the last thing this squad needs is two more European games.

We need a win no matter the competition and so as strong as possible. Go through top 8 and we skip 2 games. That's a much needed break for this squad.

It's a must-not-lose game, at a time when we have the most injuries (and not yet fully fit, and running on empty players) so far.

Ideally (as has been the case for weeks) we need to rest the most exhausted players, both to help them be more effective but crucially to avoid yet more injuries. This looks on the eyetest to be Porro, Son and Deki. Most likely we start the strongest available XI though, and if by some miracle rack up a lead, give the aforementioned players rests after 45-60 mins.

Starting XI
Austin
Porro1 Drag Davies Gray
Sarr Bergvall Madders
Deki2 Lankshear Son3

Usable subs:
3Moore, 2Richy (assume both still on limited mins)

Possible 30min debuts:
1Hardy, Olusesi, Williams-Barnett, 1Cassanova

Making up the numbers:
Whiteman, Ajayi, King, Hall, Gunter (that completes all Blist players noted on UEFA site. Maybe others are eligible, if they are u21 and have been at the club 2+ years?)

Doubtful: Biss, Bentancur, Forster, Scarlett (depending in whether playing in Europe would trigger the "max 2 clubs in a season rule")

Ineligible: Kinsky, Spence, Reguilón, Yang

They seem to have a tough match at the weekend and they’re having a tough time themselves results wise.
wonder will they save a player or two?

Is there any word on when the defenders are returning?
The injury websites suggest maybe this weekend. Seems to be based on Postecoglou saying Davies, Romero and Vdv would all be back at a similar time around end of Jan.
Udogie a month longer most likely

If Forster is fit, I think I would play him.

Agree but they beat the German equivalent of Everton 3-1 away from home on Sunday after being beaten 5-0 by Kane & co, will try and get some intel from the bar tender

Hoffenheim are miles apart from Gala. According to Andy Brassell, euro expert, they are currently the worst team in Europe.

Gala just drew with the team bottom of the Europa league table for their first point in 7 games.... At home....

Agreed. We need the confidence boost as well.

Full strength get the win and then focus on Leicester.

Their home form in Europe is not disastrous. A win (D Kyiv), three draws (Midtjylland, Lyon, Basel)and a defeat (Porto). Terrible away from home as they haven't picked up a single point on their travels.
