Spence's omission seems more and more mad to me. Hopefully we give Moore the start on the left. I've watched yesterday's match back and on reflection Werner wasn't as bad as I thought while watching it live (although still our least-good performer) but I'd still love to see Moore stake a claim as an actual first-term option.

Think it will be:

Vicario

Gray
Romero
VDV
Davies

Bissouma
Sarr
Bergvall

Johnson
Solanke
Werner

Get the game won and then get VDV, Johnson etc off

Just wish Spence could play and Id move Davies beside Romero.

Worry about VDV.

Hope this decision from Ange doesnt backfire cruely.

It was such an odd decision.

In the last two matches VDV has completed 171 minutes , after yesterdays world football record 70 metre dash think he might deserve a rest, back four picked on minutes played in last two games

Porro - Gray - Romero - Davies

Yeah thats a good shout, but moving Romero fron RCB isnt ideal.

We need more options at both CB and LB in January, that much is pretty clear from the trouble we're gonna have continually in selecting a team for these EL games.

Romero should play this one, as he was suspended for the last but I'd rather Micky is given a rest. Davies played really well vs Qarabag IMO. The issue though is LB. No idea who can play there without Spence as an option. It's mental that we didnt sign another LB in the summer.

The rest of the team largely picks itself but I'd love to see Moore given a start on the LW. Bergvall to get the whole game, same with Biss and Sarr.

Solanke I'm worried about too. He works so hard. We need Richy back so again, I'd seriously consider playing Lankshear.

The reason for his ommission has been explained on SC before. It appears odd if you don't know why.

Didn't Romero play LCB with Radu RCB against Newcastle when VDV had a slight injury , maybe Gray can go LB and bring Davies in to LCB, left side is a problem .

PS Don't know how accurate this is but looks like everyone has the same problem.

More than 19,000 individual contacts with the ball were included in the analysis, making for a substantial database. Overall, about 79 percent of players were right-footed and about 21 percent were left-footed. Only very few players were mixed-footed, e.g., played the ball equally often with both of their feet

Yeah he did, but i think Romero struggled a bit that game, got done for their winner.

Im certain had he been RCB and VDV played LCB that day we take something from the game

VDV is our most important player for this system.

Trouble is we can't run VDV into the ground and risk losing him for several matches, Radu getting banned was not good. Sure Ange will have the an answer.

Agree. Not having Spence has limited our options and with Dragusin suspended we havent much choice

Be typical now if VDV picks up an injury on Thursday.

He needs protecting.

even if we signed a LB he wouldn't be registered as we don't have enough squad space

It's going to have to be Gray - Romero - VDV - Davies backline and that sucks in terms of putting more minutes on them than you'd like particularly VDV. You'd wish Davies could be LCB and Spence LB...would be so much more relaxing.

We are really riding our luck with VDV imo. Need to be out of sight be 60-65' to take him off and give Dorrington minutes at CB or another academy player like Leo Black or someone minutes at LB and move Davies in the middle.

I'd love to see Moore get at least 30 minutes in this match if not more. Lankshear deserves at least a good 20 as well

Will Richy be back for this one? Would be good to get him some minutes and also Dom a rest.
I think last week or maybe before the Brentford game in one of his press conferences Ange was asked about Richarlison and he told the journalists to stop asking questions about him until he updates us as he’s a fair way off returning. So I wouldn’t expect him back before the West Ham game after the international break.

I think you’re right about Van De Ven. Do you think Ange plays Dragusin and Romero against Brighton if he can’t rest him Thursday. Or do you think on Thursday he plays Davies at centre back and plays Udogie at left back?

If fit Romero and VDV play against Brighton - 100%

I think you’re probably right. Just looking at ways to rest Van De Ven. I think it’s more likely he rests him Thursday and plays Udogie instead.

Am I crazy or are all of you? I assumed no chance Romero, VDV, etc play.
