Dier and Ndombele. We need someone who will protect our back 4. I think their skill sets would compliment each other well. The issue is that it's not a change in personnel that's the problem, it's the mentality, the philosophy and the style.

Pep and Klopp are currently the 2 best in the league and their teams back that up. Because they play in their style and won't shift from that. Poch has gone from the pressing etc in a 343 and 4231 to this weird diamond with inferior full backs.

I almost think it needs a Mike Bassettesque show of defiance that 'this is my way, we're doing it like this' aka "four, four fucking two"

Pep and Klopp play in the same way every week. Poch switches constantly and is getting found out. He's confused himself.

I’d go back to 343 with Dier moving between defence and defensive midfield positions. I’d play Sissoko on the right of the 4.

Why has he become so set against blooding youth? If the players at his disposal at the first team level are the ones with 'agendas' then blooding some of our better youth can't be any worse than trying to preach/coach players that either you don't want here or don't want to be here.

Gotta admit, but it's really irking me.

Time to ditch players that don't want to be here starting with this game and get back to 4-2-3-1.

I've had to edit this twice and realised that even without Verts, Toby, Aurier, Rose and Eriksen we still have a pretty decent squad with Lo Celso and Sessegnon still to come back.

I don't believe the central defence is the problem. It's the lack of defensive support in front of it and the serious lack of quality at fullback.

Been saying for a while I wanted Dier back in the team as I always felt safer when he dropped in to make a 3 allowing our full backs to get further up the pitch in support of the front line. Has to happen now because if we continue to play 3 midfielders who don't have the defensive capability of Dier then we will continue to be exposed.

There is a reason City/Liverpool play the likes of Fernandinho/Fabinho/Rodri, Barcelona play Busquettes etc. it's not pretty football but it works because at the moment as soon as we lose the ball, you have 3 players back away allowing us to be pressed, with Dier he either makes the tackle or gives away a tactical free kick.

Not saying Dier will suddenly come in and we will start playing like we used to but its the first logical step to stop the current trend of shipping goals in every game we play. Once he comes in, then we can work out how to build the midfield around him.
