Gazza
Aurier - Sanchez - Toby - Verts
Dier
Ndombele - Alli
Moura - Kane - Son

Dier is in there as JM loves him, but also our back four needs protection at the moment. However, I'd really love to see Lo Celso given some minutes in this game.

I'd also like to see Foyth given a start, but Aurier needs to settle and start every game for a while and I'm not sure we can do without Toby right now. That said, one more sub-par performance from him and he should be dropped.

This is what I'd like to see:

Gazza

Aurier
Alderweireld
Sanchez
Vertonghen

Ndombele
Lo Celso

Dele
Eriksen
Son

Kane
Whilst I think Ndombele & Lo Celso may be tenacious enough to actually work as a 2, I wouldn't want Eriksen in front of them backing out of 50/50s, we would be better suited with Dele centrally in front of them IMO, just a much better competitor.

For me:

Gazza
Aurier Toby Sanchez Verts
Ndombele Lo Celso
Lucas--------- Dele ------- Son
Kane

I think all of Dele, Lucas and Son are better targets for Verts crossing ability too.

Really want to see Lo Celso and Ndombele starting, but I don't see how we make it work at this point. Feels like if we did, it'd be a 4-3-3 and at the expense of Winks/Moura.

----------------------- Gazza --------------------
Aurier --------- Toby -------- Sanchez --- Verts
----------------------- Dier -----------------------
------- Ndombele -------------- Alli ------------
-- Lo Celso ---------- Kane ------------ Son -----

Think that looks good on paper against a relatively open Bournemouth side.

Can't see that many changes, 1-2 or at best 3. One of Dier / Winks might dropped, Jan could get start.

Perfect. The only small change i would consider would be Eriksen for Dele. Jose needs to get a better look at a few players in different positions and also consider fatigue. Theoretically this team would have four players starting who are in the engine room and would be relatively fresh.

I would love to see Jan in the LB slot, given José's tactics. Think he'd be excellent and with Sissoko in front of the back four, i think that would make us a bit better defensively.

I worry for Foyth and Lo Celso - they were definitely Pochs men.
Foyth, perhaps but I think he will be assessed like everyone else and if he is deemed good enough, he will get his chance I'm sure. Its not like he was getting that much game time under Poch anyway.

Lo Celso will have his time to play too I feel, he offers a lot of versatility and could very well slot into a few different positions. What will happen to Lamela I wonder?

Isn't this some sort of paradox? On current form Dier does not protect the back four enough, therefore the back four have to defend more!

If Jose sees him as a mainstay going forward, then he has to start games like this.

Need to start Dier eventhough he's been poor, no other way to get back in match tempo. He really needs to start as much as possible up until January and if he's not back to his best by then we need to look for a replacement.

I've been a staunch supporter of Winks, but he has been poor in the past two games and doesn't deserve to be selected at the moment.

I don't think Dier's form and fitness are anywhere near what we need at the moment. Look at both Olympiakos goals. The first one he's way too far up the pitch for a DM. The ball is played over his head into Danny Rose's channel and Dier has no recovery pace at all. Rose knocks the ball to where Dier should be (it's a dreadful bit of play but Dier should be there to mop up). Winks has to come across but misses the tackle and 2 seconds later the ball is in the net.

Dier wasn't at fault for the second goal, but he stands rooted to the spot while 3(?) Olympiakos players get past him into scoring positions. The ball is in the net anyway so it doesn't matter, but he's still very poor in that whole passage of play.

I'm sure none of this has passed Jose by and I'm sure he wants Dier's mentality and character on the pitch right now, but IMO, as a player he's not cutting it. I've been a big fan of Dier and hope he can turn things around. Maybe he'll get better with time on the pitch. I hope so, but I'm not confident at the moment.

Thought he played well against Wet Spam had a poor 1st half Olympiakos then improved second half is how I saw it.

On reflection I think Mourinho will have Dier as the first name on his team sheet so as not to ruin his confidence. I also think he will rest Son to keep him fresh for Man U in mid-week, especially as he had a lot of air miles the other week and was our worst attacker on Tuesday. I think Winks will be the fall guy to get Ndombele into the team. Really hope Jose sees that Verts is the perfect LB in his asymmetrical system, and that he gets a sneaky look at Lo Celso on alongside Ndombele towards the end.

Gazza
Aurier Sanchez Toby Verts
Dier Ndombele
Moura Dele Sessegnon
Kane

When attacking:

Gazza
Sanchez Toby Verts
Dier Ndombele
Aurier Moura Kane Dele Sessegnon

Should be a good open game.
We should win as they'll leave space for us to play.
Be nice if we could keep a clean sheet but I can't see it.
Be nice if we could win a few high balls into our box as well but I wont hold my breath.
If Dier isnt match fit he wont start so I'll go Sissoko instead please Bob.
On a side note, I hope JM can get Rose back playing well. He can be fantastic but defensively this season he's been pants, that fk up Tuesday case and point when he could have simply knocked it out for a throw in. Hoping JM instills a fk possesion, defend first philosophy.
Anyway ...

Kane
Son Dele Moura
Ndombele Dier
Rose Sanchez Toby Aurier
Gazza
