If Aurier is Injured... I will go 3-4-3

Aurier is the only one who has the space and gives us width. If he is not there , without another regular RB, I would play Sissoko as RWB and play Sessegnon as well in a 3-4-3

Lloris,
Sanchez, Toby, Jan,
Sissoko, Lo Celso, Winks, Sessegnon
Bergwijn, Kane, Son

If Aurier is available, I will go with usual 4-2-3-1

Lloris
Aurier, Toby, Jan, Davies,
Winks, Lo Celso
Bergwijn, Ndombele, Son,
Kane

Lloris

Sissoko
Toby
Jan
Sessegnon

Lo Celso
Skipp
Ndombele

Bergwijn
Kane
Lamela

Don't fancy Davies v Pepe and Son has been dreadful lately. Maybe Gedson over Sissoko at RB - neither of them really suited to it but they both work hard enough. bNo idea why I've posted a lineup since I very much doubt I'll be watching it.

This is part of the problem. Nodody, including JM has a fkin clue what our best starting 11 is or even what formation.
To be honest I dont think it even matters who we put out tomorrow. We're gonna get a thrashing.

I don't think it matters what formation or players we put out, we will still be over run in cm.
We won't attack down the left, the attackers will all be too narrow giving us no space, but yet still won't have bodies in the box when Aurier hits the first player on a cross....

I have to pick you up on not attacking down the left. I dont think we'll attack down the right either. Also the middle lol.

Does that mean Lucas and Kane in goal with Lloris up front then ? :D
Lol. I know I do them differently...but to be honest I don't understand why my way of posting isn't the natural way. It's so much more intuitive when you line up the players on the left flank for instance, that they actually appear on the left.

Thats how I used to layout my teams when I coached kids football. Was easier for them to understand as well.

I agree with some of the post though not we will get thrashing. Aurier just does not put in any quality balls and is waste ultimately.

Agree .We need Lamela's intensity and he links well with Gio. Son has a great attitude and am sure he will want to improve on previous performances.

I really think this team could be built around the Lamela-Gio partnership, but sadly I don't think Mourinho will have time to develop that as this probably will be Lamela's last season with the club (I desperately wish it wasn't, though).

Son also has to be kept in the starting line up, he's been playing bellow par lately but we all know what a dangerous player he doesn't need much to get going again.

The main problem of Lamela is he has zero end product ... Not enough end product for the position he is playing ... We need decisive player in that position .. not just hustling type players ...

Lloris
Aurier Toby Sanchez Davies
Winks Sissoko
Lamela locelso son
Kane

If lo celso is not fit, then start with ndombele behind kane ... Lamela should play on the wings and help out aurier to minimize aubamyeng threat ...

Swap one of Winks/Sissoko for Ndombele and I would agree. I can not get behind a Winks Siss midfield. It's so so negative and essentially cuts a huge line between our defence and attack. It sucks all creativity going forward. At this point I would even ditch both and just play Skipp alongside Ndombele and Celso rest of the season.

I was thinking three CBs could mitigate the lack of a top CDM. Having Aurier and Sess overlapping you could have Bergwijn and Lo Celso inverted and cutting inside to overload the centre too. When the wing backs advance there’s also the option to have Sissoko drop towards the RB position and for the three CBs to shuffle towards the left, making a four.

I’ve gone with Son up top as Kane has looked knackered, but fully expect Harry to play. He normally ups his game for the NLD anyway, so hoping he does so again today if he plays.

You can't just throw in a back 3 like that....

Even one that’s played together before? I’m sure these three have played this system together at some point, and Jan and Toby obviously have done so together many, many times.

The thought was also that whatever we’ve been playing the last couple of weeks hasn’t been working, so seems pointless to hit our heads against a brick wall sticking with it.
