One look at that bench tells you everything you need to know about the state of our squad, faith in youth or another tough transfer window.

Forgot Son is suspended. That makes it a bit more difficult. Also, who knows whether Eriksen will still be here. At this stage, I'm going to assume he will be given he's been playing in pre-season. The Dele injury is frustrating also. I also can't see any of Dier, Davies, Aurier or Wanyama involved in any meaningful way given their injuries. This is what I think Pochettino will do based on the above information:

I tried to come up with a bench but could only think of Gazza, Sanchez and Sissoko as senior players given our injury and availability issues. I just hope Nkoudou isn't on it and we have a new signing or two to include. It's hard to say though without knowing exactly who we will have available.

I really hope he doesn't leave out Ndombele. We can't afford the luxury of another months-long integration period. He should start.

Very worried about our lack of forward options with Dele out and Eriksen and either off or uninterested. We really needed to get more signings in earlier.

We haven't even started the season yet and already we're decimated by injuries. Dier, Davies, Aurier, Dele, Wanyama. I mean for fuck's sake.

With Son and Dele both out, I wouldn't be surprised to see the diamond - not really sure it differs much from 433 anyway.

No place for Eriksen seems odd, and may not pan out. Seems a little flat going forward, although if everyone is on their game then we're certainly looked a bit stronger with Ndombele in the mix.

While there's a lot of focus on Lo Celso or Fernandes, it seems a bit silly to proceed again without an alternative striker to put pressure on those front spots and offer a different option (Llorente was much needed last season, it turned out).

This. I think that's why he started the players he did. Barring injuries, I don't see why he is going to change that line-up (not saying that I think it was the best, but maybe MP does).
