If one or more of Aurier, KWP and Foyth doesn't step up this season then every team will target that area and we will be in total doo doo.

I think it’s time for Skipp to come in. He’s a lot better defensively than Winks or Sissoko at least in terms of getting his foot in, tracking and blocking holes.

I think he’ll help protect the back line and more importantly give the forwards more protection to allow them to go and press harder. It’ll also give our full backs better opportunity to roam. He even showed a good ability to pass forward during preseason which I think was one of the frustrations with him last year. I think Ndombele would be wasted in a holding role as he wants to get forward more.

Lloris

KWP ——-Alderweireld——Vertonghen——Rose

Skipp

Ndombele——-Lo Celso

Eriksen————————-Son

Ndombele and Lo Celso as our two engine room midfielders image would result in us getting raped by Palace.

Just because they’re defensive doesn’t mean we have to go in Ossis-style against them lol.

I don't see how as long as they have a holding mid behind them?

I like the early signs from Lo Celso and Ndombele. I think they are both good in tight space and both want to push forward. For the team to work they need to be able to press hard on defence and roam, interact with the front players and get involved as much as possible. Without protection they could do it but we’d be massively limiting what they could do for the team.

We need to allow our talent to actually play and not shove them in and restrict them.

Not sure why Lamela is getting dropped left, right and centre. He's been one of our better players so far this season and been involved in most of the goals we've scored.

If Aurier has built up good fitness then he deserves a chance to start with KWP & Foyth injured. Equally with Davies, if he does good fitness work during international break then he should come in for Rose who has been poor so far this year.

In the long run I want our double pivot CM to be GLC and Ndombele but for now Winks should continue after an excellent display vs Arsenal.

The team arguably picks itself right now:

Lloris

Aurier Toby Jan Davies

Winks Ndombele

Lamela Eriksen Son

Kane

Lucas, Alli, Lo Celso, Sissoko, Dier, Sanchez, Gazza

My biggest concern at the moment is how poor we are defensively. We're lacking massively for some reason and that may require Dier (if match fit) to come in alongside Ndombele. We have to stop conceding first in games and particularly in the first 25 mins.

We always do best when on the front foot, get a 1-0 lead and then build on it. That should've happened vs Arsenal but we messed around at the back and let them back in at a crucial time.

Sissoko was great last season but needs to become an impact sub off bench to use his power and drive against tired legs. Similarly with Lucas. Off the bench he can be electric but when he starts he doesn't seem to have same impact. Alli will probably come back in for Lamela in the long run but for now Erik deserves to play.

Eventually I want to see this:

Lloris

Foyth Toby Jan Davies

Lo Celso Ndombele
Eriksen

Alli Son
Kane

Lucas, Lamela, Sissoko, Dier, Sanchez, Sess, Gazza
IMO, that CM3 has the potential to be the best CM in the Prem. Certainly when you compare to say Liverpool with Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum or Arsenal with Guendozi, Torreira, Xhaka (lol). Ours is not on City's level yet with De Bruyne, Rodri and Silva but we have HUGE potential to be really special whilst already being talented enough to be right up there with the other top 6 teams.

They didn’t have a holding midfielder in their teams, they’d put Ndombele and Lo Celso as their two engine room midfielders lol.

Praying that Ndombele is fit. I knew when he missed the Newcastle game with a “minor” thigh injury that we wouldn’t see him again until January....... only half joking there.

As much as I would love to see Lo Celso start, I don't see how he will considering he will be likely playing, or at least on the bench, at 3am on Wednesday morning in Argentina. Considering he hasn't yet started for us I will be amazed if Poch picks him. With that in mind I guess I would go with this, assuming/hoping Ndombele and Dier are fit.

Lloris
Aurier Toby Jan Rose
Dier
Ndombele Eriksen
Lamela Son
Kane

It's like groundhog day waiting for us to settle into a season again. International breaks are a nuisance. Those traveling from another continent may well be benched or not involved at all, but fitness permitting:

-----------------------Lloris---------------
KWP, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose
------Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele-------
------------------Eriksen, Son--------------
----------------------Kane------------------

And consider taking Kane off if we're not getting through their deep defensive block.

Our four matches before the next break are Palace (h), Leicester (a), Southampton (h), Brighton (a)
After the Newcastle debacle, we could do without a repeat against Palace, which isn't a foregone conclusion.
Four wins would really help get things back on track. It seems like the top two are away already, which compounds our frustration and it's not worth thinking how disappointing it would be to not take 3pts from Palace.

Lo Celso probably out, Foyth and Sessegnon as well. Full squad otherwise? Dier, Ndombele and KWP should be able to get up to speed with more than a week to go.

As been said Sanchez and Son has long travels, might be starting at the bench. Lots of games coming up in a short period.

Palace is going to be tough to break through so we need players who is going to break lines, preferably with passing and not speed.

My eleven would therefore look like this:

Lloris - Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose - Ndombele, Winks - Eriksen, Dele, Lamela - Kane.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Davies, Dier, Sissoko, Son, Lucas.

With a few changes going into the Olympiacos game midweek.
