People actually wanna drop Lamela?

Play the same team as against Man City.

We need to play those on form and those who will be playing for us longer term. The only debate for me is how to integrate Sanchez, but it seems there's an issue with Verts, so it will have to be at LCB for now:

Lloris
KWP Toby Sanchez Rose
Sissoko Ndombele
Lo Celso
Lucas Kane Lamela
Bench:
Gazza Dier Verts Skipp Winks Eriksen Son

I know it's unpopular opinion, but I really don't wanna see Winks start this one.

It's no coincidence that we've improved in both our games so far, when he's been subbed off. It might as well be a case of his teammates not using him correctly, but IMO he's been underwhelming so far, only passing short sideways or backwards. I don't think he makes us tick, and would like to se a CM2 of Ndombele and Sissoko against Newcastle. Lo Celso to come in, if Poch insists on a midfield 3.

Totally agree. The big change has been Sissoko going back into the middle and the change of formation, both of which have happened when Winks has gone off. I love him, but he's not as influential as some would like to believe. He is definitely good enough to be part of the squad, but for me Sissoko and Ndombele will be the best CM partnership. Also, want to see Lo Celso playing just in front of them as he's going to be awesome in attack, but is also willing to drop and defend.

Davies should get a game, it's a long season and we need to save Danny's legs for the big games.

I think Sissoko could play right back, Liverpool converted Milner into a full-back. He has similar attributes to Sissoko.
Milner is vastly superior on the ball but that aside sissoko certainly could play there.

I think Foyth could make an amazing right back. He has fantastic ability on the ball.

Lloris
KWP - Sanchez - Alderweireld - Rose
Winks - Ndombele
Lamela - Eriksen - Son
Kane

Gazzaniga - Davies - Vertonghen - Dier - Sissoko - Lo Celso - Lucas
Still no Dele or Sessegnon and we could have players the quality of Lucas and Lo Celso on the bench. We've got some serious depth these days.

Just an idea please don't slate me but once we get up to speed could we get away with playing Ndombele and Lo Celso in a double pivot especially against the poorer teams ? what can Winks do that either of the 2 can't plus we obviously would have the added benefit of them both being able to take the ball forward ?

You don't think Winks makes us tick so you'd prefer Sissoko? I don't see the logic. All the complaints you've made about Winks can be applied to Sissoko to an even greater extent.

We improved against Villa because we stopped having Sissoko as the free attacking outlet of the front 4 after he was moved back to midfield and had Eriksen on the pitch not because we took Winks off. If Poch had subbed Sissoko off instead of Winks we would still have won that game.

Against City we scored from a corner out of nothing, we then proceeded to create nothing but City were slicing us in half still aside from the odd bit of Moura magic. Sissoko didn't add any greater solidity so again I'd say if he had taken Sissoko off instead of Winks then we'd have arrived at the same outcome.

The substitutions aren't showing that Winks is the weak link, they're showing that Poch is setting us up incorrectly to begin with. Two games and we've had to suffer through Sissokos attempts at being an attacking outlet, it's not his fault because that's not his skillset and Poch needs to make a decision on dropping one of his favourites either Winks or Sissoko because shoehorning both in isn't working.

Agreed. I have always been quite critical of Winks , but have to admit he proved me wrong on several occasions last season. In the two games so far, he may've been quite mediocre (so have others to be fair) but at least I appreciate the efforts he made. Our rather poor performances from the start this season may not even be down to Winks himself, but may rather been caused by how our midfield is structured at the moment (the dreaded diamond) and how he's used. A return to a 4-2-3-1 seems to be a solution, especially at home against weaker opposition. Most team will go 10 men behind the ball anyway.

I'd like to see a midfield 2 of Lo Celso and Ndombele on Saturday personally, with Lucas - Lamela - Son behind Kane.

It's no coincidence because it led to a change in shape from a shit one where we always look poor, to one with an extra attacker where we look better. The formation was the issue, not Winks, if either of Sissoko or Ndombele had made way the same would've happened.

Well that’s just not true is it? NDombele scored the first goal versus Villa, how would that have happened if he’d have been taken off instead of Winks?
