Watching how manure is set up against Villa, assuming they start the same Xi, we should line up

Gazza
Aurier Toby Sanchez Rose
Winks Ndombele
Lucas Dele Son
Kane

because

Williams is a young n inexperienced left back and Rashford ahead of him doesn’t track back enough so Aurier and Lucas should have a field day

Their middle 3 of Fred, Perreira + Mata aren’t composed, competent nor physical and Winks and Ndombele can pass through to Dele all day.

They tend to attack down their right with pace, Wan Bissaka and James. Hence why Rose. Although I would say Jan is a more competent defender, I worry about him being burnt for pace. They are also a threat via set pieces which might favour Jan over Rose. So I’m torn.

Defensively, Son n Lucas will exploit the space left behind by AWB n Williams and Lindelof is a bag of mistakes waiting to happen, Dele and Kane will probably target him all the time.

Anyone creating teams with Dele out wide need to think again: he’s now our number ten, playing just behind Kane, Look how effective it’s been in the last three games

Don’t expect significant changes, but I hope Dier is benched:
Gazza
Aurier Sanchez Toby Verts
Ndombele Winks
Moura Dele Son
Kane

Aurier--Sanchez--Toby------?
---------------Dier-----?---------------
---Lucas-----Alli------------Son--
--------------------Kane---------------

These are the 9 player we know will start. Dier will play despite what we all think. I think jose will go for rose and winks in the 2 un-taken spots. Id like to see us take our chances. Big game.

Haven’t managed to see the games since Jose took over...what formation are we playing? I’m guessing Dele is being pushed up the field to make runs he used to be renowned for?

4-2-3-1 set up but when we have the ball we push Aurier up as far as son and the right midfielder comes inside, the lb becomes an LCB as part of a back 3 so we end up looking like a 3-2-3-2 but the reality is that we're trying to have a back 5 and a front 5 which is similar to city/liv.

We need a DM and Dier is all we have, anyone playing Winks or Sissoko as a de facto DM has chronic amnesia of how poor they are in this role. I imagine Sissoko will start over GLC but I’d rather GLC’s guile. Lucas does nothing when he starts but games off the bench. Winks and rose can piss off but I suspect they’ll be on the bench over Sess and Parrott

Again; I don't think we'll see much of a change from the Bournemouth, Olympiacos and West Ham game when it comes to our line-up. We played a very good team against Bournemouth this weekend and I doubt Mourinho would wanna change that.

IMO, if we start Verts at LB he'll be targetted for lack of pace by James and Wan Bissaka all game. We might be better with Rose there.

I guess the front line is a safe bet, as are Aurier and the CBs.
Rose or Vertonghen is a hard call and out of Sissoko, Tanguy, Dier and Winks it could be any two.

Given how shocking Dier has been since coming back into the team, in addition to the fact that he played the full 90+ mins on Saturday and his lack of match fitness, I'd drop him and go with Winks and Ndombele, with the addition of Sissoko on the right who is of a more defensive persuasion than Lucas.

So:

Gazza
Aurier Sanchez Toby Vertonghen
Winks Ndombele
Sissoko Alli Son
Kane
In attack Aurier would obviously provide the width from the right with Sissoko tucking in, so you'd have:

Gazza
Sanchez Toby Vertonghen
Winks
Aurier Sissoko Ndombele Son
Alli Kane
