Lloris
Doherty - Alderweireld - Dier - Davies
Hojbjerg - Winks
Son - Dele - Bergwijn
Kane

Hart - Aurier - Sanchez - Ndombele - Sissoko - Sessegnon - Lucas
Even if Gio is now fit, I can't see him being involved having not played any pre-season matches.

I think Doherty starts. He has been playing International games and training with the team for nearly a week so that is enough to start him IMO. Bergwijn started against City the week he came in I believe.

Lloris
Doherty - Toby - Dier - Davies
Hojbjerg - Winks
Lucas - Dele - Son
Kane

Bench: Cirken, Hart, Sanchez, Bergwijn, White, GLC (if fit), Ndombele

My XI (4-2-3-1) : Winks the deeper midfielder. Hojbjerg to go press. Ndombele from bench in 2nd half

Lloris
Doherty, Toby, Dier, Davies
Hojbjerg, Winks,
Lucas,Dele,Son
Kane

Very obvious the team that Jose will pick. It should be this:

Lloris
Doherty Toby Dier Davies
Hojbjerg Winks
Lucas Alli Son
Kane
Only question mark might be Sanchez over Alderweireld, just because Sanchez hasn't been on international duty.

I could see Sanchez over Dier just because Everton have two fast attackers and Jose mentioned in the past he likes Sanchez against faster attackers and Dier against strong attackers. But it would be a big mistake to start them both over Toby.

Not sure Ndombele deserves a start, also if he is shit and is taken off not good for his confidence, best on bench.

he won’t start but even if he did he’d certainly be subbed. Not in my opinion for being shit- but for lacking fitness. Looking at the most likely team, the juices are not flowing...

scrappy 1-0 like the last encounter would do

I think Doherty will make his debut in the cups. Aurier will play league until he messes up

Last time they started together 3-1 Sheffield Utd. Say no more

We tried to sell him last summer and possibly even in January and there were multiple rumours and sources saying that he was looking to move, way before Jose btw. I think we are waiting for Milan to up their offer or Bayer to come in and he'll likely leave if so, otherwise it could be an Eriksen situation where if the 'fair price' DL wants isn't met then we just keep him which I'd be fine with as he'd be a very capable 2nd choice RB, but now we've signed MD I assume he'll try and push for a move and also would be nice to see Tanganga getting minutes.

For these reasons I'd say its pretty likely MD will start vs Everton.

sorry, it’s an opinion but still just rumors. Imo he will start
