The team and formation Bulletspur would love to see

Lloris

Aurier ----- Toby ------ Dier ----- Davies

Lo Celso ----- Hojbjerg

Lucas ------ Ndombele ------ Son

Kane
Gazzaniga Doherty Sanchez Tanganga Sissoko Lamela Bergwijn

Considering I didnt have space for Dele Winks Gedson Sessegnon shows that we are building a formidable squad

Is Lo Celso training?

Lloris
Aurier Toby Dier Davies
Winks Hojbjerg
Bergwijn Dele Son
Kane

being that Doherty has not been with the squad much (if at all) Id go Aurier
He started training with the squad yesterday so I think Jose will start him. He's generally not afraid to throw new signings straight in and Doherty seems to be a player he specifically requested.

I'd be quite surprised if Aurier, who wants to leave, starts ahead of him.

Was widely reported last season, mostly from the likes of Alasdair Gold and Dan KP that he wanted to go last summer, I think he even admitted he wanted to leave. Seems to be the same again this year.

What i'm interested in seeing is how Doherty is going to feature in the JM Asymmetric attack.

Currently with Aurier it looks like this when we attack the box...

Son Kane
-------------- Dele Lucas ------- Aurier
Winks --- Sissoko
Davies ----- Dier ---- Toby

That seems to make sense to me when a team sits back against us because we can load the box with 4 attackers and get the ball wide for Aurier to deliver a cross (Aurier had the highest number of crosses from a defender in the league last season - his accuracy wasn't great though so it proved limited in being effective).

Doherty is a different type of attacking full back. he's more like Dani Alves in style in that he attacks to get in the box and score or cut the ball back instead of a wide cross. So the attacking formation would be more like this...

-------Son Kane ----Doherty
-------------- Dele Lucas -------
GLC --- PEH
Davies ----- Dier ---- Toby
My big question is where is that width going to come from? It looks like we could end up playing quite narrow unless we see Davies push forward (unlikely i think). The passes from GLC/Winks and PEH are going to be more flat and through passes from deep (ironically, something Eriksen was a master of this) so i'm thinking we may continue to struggle against sides that sit deep unless we have a different strategy.

After Sat showing I don't see N'Dombele starting & it will be either Winks or Sissoko & as much as I'd like to see Bergwijn start I think he'll start Moura.
Agreed I think Moura has become one of Jose's key players.

Hart Sanchez Sessegnon Winks Sissoko Lamela Lucas

* Assuming Lo Celso is unfit and we’ve not signed a forward.
Love the line-up and can't argue with much of that apart from not sure Ndombele can be trusted / is fit enough yet, he only had one x 45 mins in his legs but then again I think Winks had a knock so he might not be able to start and Sissoko hasn't played too many minutes either, if we are keeping Ndombele and he's going to get his head down then starting his is the right thing to do and hopefully he can last 60 mins but otherwise if Winks is fully fit i'd start him instead.

I love the Bergwijn over Lucas shout but think Jose will go with his 'favourites' Lucas and Son to start this one.

Hope Lo Celso can get back to full fitness soon.

How did you line-up the players like that haha must have taken you ages hitting space bar, fair play.

Do we think he will throw Doherty straight in? I hope so and he;s played two international games so he should be fit and ready to go so suppose I don't see why not especially as he's training with the team this week, if he'd not even had a chance to train with the team at all then i'd mabye have said stick Aurier in just for the first game but very exchited to see Doherty play.

Wonder if we get some news about Winks or GLC.

Starting another PL season with Sissoko in CM would be a bit depressing.
GLC has been recoveirng from a groin issue he couldn't properly treat during lockdown so he won't be fit to start no chance, mabye on the bench and a few mins at the end at best. Winks i'd say its 50/50 if its him or Ndombele who start along side PEH.

Whenever Lucas is fit, Jose plays him so those hoping for Bergwijn in ahead of him are going to be disappointed I think.

reckon he’ll chuck Doherty straight in ahead of Serge and I for one am very happy about that.
I think for now Lucas as first choice is the right move due to his tactical discipline and work rate, he really needs to up his goal threat this season though and I think slowly slowly Bergwijn will become first choice over Lucas in that spot.

We tried to sell him last summer and possibly even in January and there were multiple rumours and sources saying that he was looking to move, way before Jose btw. I think we are waiting for Milan to up their offer or Bayer to come in and he'll likely leave if so, otherwise it could be an Eriksen situation where if the 'fair price' DL wants isn't met then we just keep him which I'd be fine with as he'd be a very capable 2nd choice RB, but now we've signed MD I assume he'll try and push for a move and also would be nice to see Tanganga getting minutes.

For these reasons I'd say its pretty likely MD will start vs Everton.

I don't see Lucas being dropped. I think it'll be a front 4 of Kane, Lucas, Dilly Dally and Son. Midfield will consist of Hojberg and Sissoko/Winks and a back four of Serge, Toby, Dier and Davies. This line up should be strong enough to turn Everton over as I expect their new signings to take a few weeks to settle in before they start performing at their optimum.

As long as Serge Aurier isn't dropped for this game, I'm very confident.

Under no circumstances can I see Ndombele starting. Not because of the murmurings of José wanting him out etc., but simply down to fitness. There's a reason he was hooked at HT against Watford.

If Winks is not fit to start either, I unfortunately think we'll see Sissoko starting there.

Whether Doherty starts or not is more unclear. It would be his first match with the team, but he's certainly been bought as first-choice RB.

I would rather see Ndombele and Winks get 45mins each. Sissoko isn't a CM
