Kevin Bond has reported that 11 players are either doubtful or out of Saturday's clash against Blackburn at the Lane.

David Bentley (calf), Roman Pavlyuchenko (back) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are all doubtful after picking up injuries against Sunderland on Tuesday night.

"They are all struggling," reported assistant boss Kevin before training on Friday morning. "We'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how they all are.

"We've got a long injury list at the moment, 11 of the first-team squad either out or unlikely to be fit for the weekend.

"We're struggling on the injury front at the moment."

Aaron Lennon (hamstring) and Robbie Keane (ankle) have been out for the last matches against Bolton and Sunderland and remain out for Blackburn.
Better news sees Michael Dawson (ankle), Ledley King (groin) and Jermain Defoe (ankle) all progressing well in their rehabilitation.
Giovani (aductor strain) also remains out alongside long-term absentees Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin).

I think something must be going wrong with our training methods.

Consistently having this many injuries is more than just bad luck. It affects some clubs way more than others. Us and Everton being cases in point.

At least we have another good excuse when we fail to claim 3 points again tomorrow and Harry can obviously continue to use the excuse to hide his own tactical blunders.

Crouch and VDV is enough if they get it right.

What about this lineup

GOMES

HUTTON KABOUL GALLAS EKOTTO

JENAS PALACIOS MODRIC BALE

VDV CROUCH

I've changed my mind, move VDV to right midfield and play Kane upfront with Crouch, two strikers are better than one at home and Blackburn are vulnerable at the back.

Bentley and Lennon probably out? Looks like Kranjcar on the right then.

It's such as shame that we find fringe players like Kranky and Palacios in such poor form, just when we need them. We're at home against an extremely defensive side so tactically playing an out of form DM (Palacios) doesn't make much sense.

As good as the Crouch/VDV combo has been up front, Kranky is a virtual pedestrian. I won't be able to stand watching him repeatedly turn back at RW and waste golden opportunities. But he can hit them from all angles so I'd START with this and try to get goals early:

.............Gomes
Hutton...Gallas..Kaboul..BAE
VDV.....Jenas....Modric...Bale
................Kranky
...............Crouch

As Bale seems to have had a few quiet Prem games I might start him at LB and push Kranky to LW to give the oppo something different to think about. I'd also be tempted to push Hutton RW and put Charlie back in if hes fit.

----------Gomes-----------
Hutton--Gallas--Kab----BAE
VDV---JJ----Palacios---Bale
-----Modric----------------
----------Crouch-----------

Kranj does not deserve to be in the team on merit.

Eek

I also thought about Hutton for RW - better than Kranky there. But on balance, thinking about opening them up, I'd prefer we use Chalky if we need to defend later

Part of me thinks we should try something a bit different.

Gomes

Hutton Kaboul Gallas Bale

Jenas Van Der Vaart Palacios Modric

Crouch Keane

Subs: Cudicini, Corluka, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Kranjcar, Sandro, Kane

I know Keane isn't on form but I'd like to see how we do with a 4-4-2. In that case Keane has to start - Kane is more of a withdrawn striker. The only way to make 4-4-2 work and accommodate our attacking talent is to line up on the left like we did for much of last season. Not happy with Jenas on the right but can't see an alternative. Our three best players in that role (Lennon, Bentley and Gio) are injured and the next two (Townsend and M'poku) are out on loan.

Keane is past it, I'm glad he's injured in the sense that I don't want him anywhere near the pitch. He's had all the chances he deserves, he's not got it anymore.

Why bringing Redknapp into it?
