Bergvall has to play. Yes, he’s struggled the last couple of games, but this is at home against a side struggling for confidence, who will no doubt sit back and be compact under Ranieri.

The trouble is, it is hard to find ‘lesser’ sides, though maybe you are referring to European sides, which I know very little about. The PL seems to have sides that can cause problems to anyone on any given day, such is the wealth of the clubs in the league.
Yea lesser sides in EL like ones we’ve played prev before Galatasary

Our inability to bring in cover at LB and CB, along with the decision to leave Spence out of the squad makes for a very uncomfortable team selection conundrum. Especially when juggling key injuries in areas where have zero cover (striker, cb, and full back). Ange will be forced to start a lot of the lads from the weekend, as I doubt they want to fall further behind the top 8… which they can’t really afford to do, if serious about winning this trophy.

Agree with LB (and RB with Spence) but we just played our 3rd and 4th choice CBs at city and conceded 0. I would say that is cover?

Just out shit luck both our first choice CBs are currently injured/unavailable.

Maybe Maddison starts this alongside Bentancur and Bergvall. I think you rest Sarr, Deki and Bissouma after the running they got through on the weekend.

It's a shame Lankshear got sent off in Turkey because we could've done with giving Dom a rest as well.

Think bergvall got a couple of minutes last game as a way of saying sorry mate you're not starting Thursday

I agree, but therein is the problem. If either get injured, that really sets us back with so many games stacking up in December. Ideally, we wouldnt have to risk both on Thursday. Alas… do we have a viable alternative option? There really shouldn’t have been so much dithering when it came to bringing in more depth to cover the entirety of that left side of defense. Especially considering VDV injury record and Romero’s constant crocks and/or suspensions. Given the number of European games alone, it was very risky relying on Davies to cover both spots… Not to mention we are putting more wear on both our CBs bodies. So, it will be interesting to see how Ange approaches this. As I am guessing Roma will come to get a draw. Which means Ange may need to start with our strongest attacking set up and try to win the game in the first half… allowing to sub a lot of them out after 60 mins.

Leaving Spence out of the squad is fast becoming a complete shambles on our part.
Yea even with the Vicario injury we don’t need 4 Gk’s, the 3 of Vic, Forster and Austin would be fine but I think we were forced into it as who else would we leave out then, Bergvall?

Hope Sarr gets to start again, his contribution was kind of overlooked with all the class on display against Citeh.

Forster
Gray Dragusin Dorrington Davies
Bergvall Bentancur Sarr
Brennan Solanke Werner

Would like to see Dorrington get some game time, and with Udogie taking a knock it makes sense to rest him given we have limited LB cover.

Change out Sarr & Solanke at half time.

It's a pity Moore is still unavailable. I'm guessing the virus he picked up was Glandular Fever (Which requires a minimum 3-4 week break from contact sport due to risk to spleen as organ can be enlarged). Other viruses wouldn't have him out of action this long.
Hopefully see him back soon because these are vital games for his development.

Go as strong as possible = pretty much secures qualification for the next stage.

Think that's spot on apart from Dorrington.

Can't see him being thrown in against arguably our toughest opponents in the league phase

Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Bentancur, Bergvall, Johnson and Werner look likely to start, perhaps chance for Austin if Ange doesn't want to risk Forster? 3 outfield slots rather open

Roma have won only 4 games so far this season (all at home) in 17 games. Recently sacked their manager and hired Ranieri, so they are a team totally out of form. Can't see them being anywhere near as tough an opposition as Galatasary were
