Looking at UEFA CL & ECL games that have taken place so far you can have up to 12 on the bench , your 5 short :)

As much as I want to go a completely different or near complete rotation, I want us to get off to a good start and continue the momentum. It's at home so no travelling involved either.

So a few changes but not as many as the Coventry game.

With the new Europa League format I'd like to see us go strong in the early matches. When we're through to the next round we'll be able to rotate and give the kids a chance.

Really could have done with Spence and Reggie in the squad.

This is THE competition for us this season, we need to win this and should be one of the favourites, if we finally have a manager that will take it seriously
Not sure it's always the manager the finger should be pointed at , players have to take some responsibility, 16/17 season KAA Gent at Wembley, 20/21 season away to D Zagreb, 2-0 up from home leg and lose 3-0.
Players have to put in the same effort as a PL match and not assume because it's a little known team that they are going to be a walkover.

Looking forward to a European run kicking off on Thursday.

Probably already been said, but:

Vicario

Gray - Dragusin - VDV - Davies

Bissouma

Sarr - Bergvall

Johnson - Solanke - Werner
Subs: Forster, Porro, Bentancur, Maddison, Deki, Son, Hall, Moore, Lankshear.

Extra strong bench just in case. Give Udogie a rest as he's played every game since being back from injury.

For anyone who keeps saying Ben can't play at left back then the man who matters says differently, interview before Newcastle match.

For the starting XI , from what we have seen so far either Madders or Deki should be starting , without them at Coventry we looked a bit lost.
I would add a couple of youngsters to the subs bench for experience, they won't get any minutes but you can name 12 subs so maybe Leo Black and Rio Kyerematen as well as Moore , Lankshear etc

We are not good enough at the moment to be a team that can make wholesale changes. I would've thought that Ange would know this by now.

I expect to see our strongest 11. Win the game then make the changes you want to give players a rest.

I 100% agreed with this for Coventry away, however I think there is far less at stake on Thursday. If we can't make 5 or 6 changes and beat a team from Azerbaijan at home we might as well pack up and go home as far as our European journey is concerned.

I'd go as far to say I'd be pissed off if he made 9 changes against Coventry, and then played our strongest squad against Qarabag. It was clear as day it should be the other way around.

Davies is pretty decent offensively, can cross and shoot from range. Against poor opposition there’s minimal risk playing him at left back. It’s only against teams who are either lethal on the counter and/or have quick attackers that he’s a massive no no in Ange’s approach.
