A lot dropping Maddison. Just can't see Ange doing it, I think he'll start Maddison and have Deki at RW, and then if it's not working make subs early second half with Deki moving central and fresh legs coming on the wings.
I think Ange will start Maddison but swap for Bergvall at 70 minutes. I also think he will start Johnson. There are lots of permutations and it will be very interesting to see how he sets up the team and the bench.

Against his old team Maddrers will 100% start. People forgetting how good he was before his injury, will be raring to go.

I imagine it will be a pretty straightforward pick...

Vicario
Porro Romero VdV Udogie
Sarr Bentancur
Maddison
Kulusevski Solanke Son

Based off pre season I'd drop Sarr and Maddison and play the following but I just don't see Ange not playing Maddison away at his former club...

Vicario
Porro Romero VdV Udogie
Bergvall Bentancur
Kulusevski
Johnson Solanke Son

I think Deki sits and comes on for JM around 65-70 min.

I think the early games of this season are very important for Madisson and Son. They both trailed off badly last season, both appointed leaders by Ange, and both have a bit more competition for their places this season. We need high levels and consistency from these two.

The close we get to game day, the more I feel we will see the tried and trusted players from the start - Maddison as the ‘10’, Deki on the right with Sarr as the glue in that other 8 role

Vicario

Porro Romero VdV Udogie

Sarr Bentancur Maddison

Deki Solanke Son

subs : Austin, Spence, Dragusin, Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Werner, Johnson

Situation dependent but I’d like to see Bergvall, Gray and Spence get decent minutes off the bench as a nod to their preseason form. If it’s too early for Odobert to be involved, Mikey Moore on the bench instead

Agree I think Madds will start and Kulu also starts on the RW. Sarr is an interesting one in that potentially he is the glue, but hasn’t shone in preseason and wasn’t great in the back half of last season, wouldn’t be surprised in Bergval got a start ahead of him.

Still sticking with my call that we start Kulusevski and Maddison centrally with Johnson on the right.

Right now my only question is if Bentancur or Gray start in the 6.

Vic
Porro Cuti Micky Destiny
Deki Lolo/Gray Madders

You only named 8 subs so there is an extra spot. Going to be interesting to see what our bench looks like once we add another midfielder, especially when Biss is back, + LB/LCB and obviously when Richy is fit. Quite the stacked team we will have.

Yeah in terms of quality it's probably the best squad we've had in recent memory.

You've just got to hope that when the inevitable injuries stack up as the season goes on it's of different positions so we have plenty of decent cover, and not all players in the same 1 or 2 positions. 😂

I’ll be staggered if it’s not the tried and trusted.

Front line is questionable. I’d guess with a weeks training under his belt Solanke will start. So Deki, having been our best preseason performer, is either on the bench, or shoved out wide, where he isn’t quite as good.

It is refreshing to be able to bring on the likes of Richarlison, Werner and Odobert as well. And not be relying on a Bryan Gil (sorry Bryan).

I always forget how many subs you can name, thought I’d named 1 too many to be honest 😅 well Mikey Moore definitely deserves a spot on the bench

It certainly will, having versatile players like Gray, Bergvall, Deki really helps they can in theory cover multiple positions and you can manipulate your bench
